I'm withholding hope Lehner can settle down and handle the pressure. It's too frustrating watching him keep the team in it with amazing saves only to let in a floater or not hug the post.

Some chatter over Buffalo exploring its goalie options. Lehner an RFA come July 1.

When the Sabers team defense improves, I suspect Lehners play will magically improve right along with it.

Yes.

Roll with Cal and Linus. or sign a cheap vet to backup.

He wont be worth the near/north of $5MM a year to me, too much of a head case.

AS is the case with many, many goalies. I don't see the need to pay a goalie north of $5MM unless he is a top 5 tender in the league, which Lehner is not.

the question really should be: "who would even give up anything higher than a 5th for this joke?"- Lehner has gotta be one of the worst goalies in the NHL. I don't know how anyone could think he is of any value. The reason his save percentage is high, is purely due to the fact that he can't control a rebound to save his life. Where normal goalies would see one shot and absorb it or deflect it into the corner, he is kicking it right out into the slot. Each shot turned into 2 additional shots off rebounds cuz he's awful. HALF of the league's BACKUPS are better than he is. I don't see where anyone sees even an ounce of value in him.

Where is this $5 mill. a year coming from ? Is he actually asking for that? He made a little over 3 last year. $3.5-$4 for 2/3 years, or get him out of here.

Yet he is still stopping those shots...or his save percentage would in fact be worse...

Math and logic is not your strong suit here is it

If anything the garbage in front of the net would be cleared out and he wouldn't be facing so many shots.

I am torn, I don't think that Lehner is bad goalie at all unlike a lot of other people. If I just look at numbers alone, he was fine on a very poor defensive team. Like others I agree that if this teams defense gets better and our goalies are not facing 35-45 shots per game their play will improve. If we can re-sign at a reasonable contract I say keep him. if he is looking for 5 large a year, i would absolutely trade him for a 2nd hell I would take a bag of pucks, 2 rolls of tape or whatever anyone is offering.

In general, yes. his shootouts plus a pretty low HDSV% is cause for concern especially if the team wants the defence to be more open/active.

If he asks for anything bigger than bridge deal just ship him out for anything. the last thing we need is another bad contract for value we can find in FA.

The issue wasn't quantity, he just wasnt stopping enough of the quality shots he faced, especially relative to comparables.

I don't suppose the Senators would give us Colin White for Lehner.

You can't just roll with Cal, considering he hasn't signed here, and I'm curious as to how many conversations you have had with Lehner to come to the conclusion he is a head case? All I saw this year was a guy who stood in the locker room after games and took his lumps with the press and I don't recall him ever throwing a teammate under the bus.

2nd in the 2018 draft sure but not the upcoming draft.

If we can find a way to get Grubauer and a good defenseman from Vegas I'd definitely shop Lehner.

I remember during the season after a loss to the Canucks Lehner said something like "Players aren't following the game plan and you have some players just trying to deke out players" not an exact quote but you can tell that was aimed at Eich. Forget what Eich said but he did fire back.

I'm glad your not our GM, Why does he have to be moved for a pick? If a team has interest in him, why can't we trade him for a RFA from the other team that would help us?

Exactly. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Lehner has a lower SV% in front of a better team. Chad Johnson, Neuvirth and Lindback all had pretty darn good numbers in a Sabres uniform simply because teams were shooting from everywhere and anywhere.
