Frei seemed to be a nice guy from what people were posting on twitter afterwards. Bad at his job but a nice guy.

Dater on the other hand is a jack ass and lazy at his job. He seems to have some connections and insight but just likes the easy and trolling narrative too often

Terry from all accounts was a nice guy. But avs wasn't his main interest. Even chambers doesn't like doing the avs. He love college sports.

Dater I don't enjoy. His stories and reporting is very child like. Hes like a bad version of skip bayless. Eg: he said we should trade duchene and compher if it lands us drouin... like cone on. I have a hard time listening to the bsn podcast bc of him. Though the last was good without him on in. Surprise surprise

Whats really bothering me is that the Avs appear to let Pickard walk out the door. I completely disagree with how they're handling the goaltending situation. Varly is too oft-injured and makes 5.9 million dollars for two more years. Picks is younger and only makes $1 million. He had a terrible defense in front of him last year and played stellar in the World Championships. They're bringing in Varly's former goalie coach in to appease him and they are making a terrible mistake with Picks. What happens if Varly struggles next season or if he gets hurt? Is Spencer Martin going to be the #1 guy having very little NHL experience?

Now there are rumors the Avs are going to trade Picks. Some team is going to get a good up-and-coming goalie for pennies on the dollar and it just makes me sick.

I've supported Sakic in a lot of the roster moves he's made, but this situation I don't agree with.

just bc Pickard had a respectable worlds doesnt make him some sort of Number 1 goalie now. He still is just a capable back up with Upside. Pickard was one of the worst goalies in the league last year, dont let recency biases sway that

Varly is the investment, hes going to be healthy for the 1st time in a few seasons getting that surgery he needed, they are brining in a full time goalie coach for once.

I dont see the issue with protecting the clearly more talented goalie when there is little risk in Pickard being picked. There are going to be better goalies that Pickard available in the expansion draft.

I guess that's a fair assessment, I still like Varly and I wouldn't call him damaged goods at this point but since we brought him in, we've had one playoff appearance and he wasn't great in that series. I still think he can rebound (look at what Bobrovsky did last season) but my gut tells me that if Picks was made the #1, he would play much better with an improved defense. There's no doubt there are better goalies in the expansion draft, but it seems as though he's generating some interest from GM's. I certainly don't want the Avs to trade him.
