The Ducks blowout loss to the Oilers (7-1) was a similar embarrassment. The Pens will be feel supremely confident as the Oilers did, and all the prognosticators will say the series is all but over, but the Sens will be pissed and come back with a vengeance (hopefully). Go Sens! |

Not sure the Pens will be complacent or over confident, Sully has a pretty good hold on how they go about business. I think the Pens want this series over & will come out just as hard (hopefully).
A few very lucky or extremely skilful bounces today. I'm not convinced of either 100%.
What I'd like to know is what was Ryan & Methot thinking on the Pens 3rd goal? 1 thinking attack without the puck the other backing off thinking defence not looking for the puck? |

Agreed. Like Crosby said after Game 3, it's one loss. That's all it is.
Any thoughts on whether Wingels gets 0, 1, or 2? I'm all for hard hits, and there's been some questionable hits on both teams that went unpunished, but this one seemed pretty blatant, especially when you take the score and game clock into consideration. |

Can someone give me a bit of info on Anderson being pulled twice? Was making some food and missed the end of the first... why did he go back in after being pulled? |

Agreed. I don't want the sens to advance but I always rather a blowout if they are going to lose. It usually means they come back angry and seem to win the next game. If the sens lost 2-1 in OT I wouldn't be surprised if they lost game 6. Losing that badly I think they force it to game 7. |

Boucher said it was to give his team a breather without taking an actual timeout. |

The interesting thing about both teams that lost by 6 or more goals winning their next game is that both instances involved Edmonton. Edmonton being an extremely talented but young team made their effort a little more inconsistent. I'm not sure you can apply that to this situation. |

A similar thought crossed my mind, but inversely, in that the Penguins are a different beast than the teams involved in those situations.
I would say it's still worth mentioning, but people need to acknowledge that these situations are not identical. |

Well, both blowouts with 6+ goals have been Edm, but Pitt has had 2 games where they looked exactly the same way OTT did yest. So I don't expect OTT to lay down next game and they aren't out of it... but obviously I hope the Pens win haha |

Momentum and confidence can turn in an instant.
If Ottawa gets the first goal in game 6 they have a chance.
Get down by 2 and bring out the clubs |

Something that should be noted:
Yes, last night was an embarrassment for Ottawa, but for this Pens team with the fire power we have at forwards, being held to 1 goal is an embarrassment. Ottawa did this to us three times (we thankfully won one of those tilts). Both teams have been embarrassed this series.
Obviously I feel really good about our chances now that we have two games to win the series, but Ottawa has played us well. This might sound silly/empty after last night's game, but Ottawa is a tough team to score on. They can definitely take us to Game 7 if they keep to their game. Hope they don't. |

Forgettable game yesterday for sure.
Always be weary of the game after a blow out. No team likes to be embarrassed like that. Same thing happened after game 3. Pens came out with a new game plan and new energy in game 4. I suspect a similar situation will happen in game 6. Should be a good one. |

Hey Sens fans, go to thehockeywriters.com site.
It explains exactly what happened to the Ottawa Goose Eggs again yesterday.
They should have been wearing their ugly ass original Goose Egg jerseys instead of the winless Canadian flag on the back of their helmets.
Stick a fork in them, the Goose Eggs are done like dinner. |

Honest question, how often do you guys notice Boucher making adjustments? I saw OTT still playing the 1-3-1 once the score got out of hand. Looked like live by the sword/die by the sword kinda thing? I know he doesn't ALWAYS run it, but it seemed like if there was ever a game to make some on the fly adjustments.. yesterday was it. No? |

The trap system never changes. He doesn't really make a whole lot changes in games. Sometimes the team is able to press more, but the system is still in place. His changes are usually a couple of line up shuffles in the bottom lines/pairings and maybe shuffle the line combos.
The system they are playing has got them this far, so they won't drastically change anything. |

This is the first real adversity the Sens have faced this post season. And its dire adversity. However i am a firm believer that if they deserve to go to the final then this is what the doctor ordered. Lets see what their made of in this situation. |

I would argue the first real diversity they faced was getting dominated back to back games in New York. |

Yes i can understand that. They threw up 2 stinkers and Lundquist in net.My personal feeling in the first 2 series was that Ottawa was the overall better team and never had the feeling of danger. |

Thankfully yesterday was the first game I was unable to watch all playoffs, but being a glutton for punishment I watched alot of it last night with morbid curiosity.
The good news is that while yesterday sucked, it counts the same as losing 1-0 in a game where they played well and could have won but didn't
They have only played three poor games out of 17 with yesterday's being the worst by a good margin so hopefully they can string together couple of strong games in a row to finish the series on a high note.
That said, we need Beastmode Andy to come back(like games 1-3) because this series is so tight that even 1 iffy goal can be enough to decide a game, and so far Murray has looked like he won't be giving up any freebies. Game 4 was a good example of 2 iffy goals and one super unlucky one being the difference between OTT potentially being up 3-1, and a tied series. |
