Dutch has really helped his trade outcome possibly by lowering his value even more. Now even the Pens will have the assets to trade for him. Their first and a prospect should do it.

I don't see it that way. Avs could still keep Duchene still, as its not like they are rich of good players up and down the fwd ranks either.

A team that wants Duchene has to still give the Avs what they need or close to it. They aren't just going to give him away for a low low price bc he has has struggled for 40 games or so. Thats not how things work. He isn't a Cancer, or a bad player, coach killer etc when guys of his calibre are being dangled as bait. its still a very talented player in Duchene that seems to be highly respected around the league and on the world stage.

If Avs don't get the Dman they need for him, they keep him. Moving him for futures packages like you mentioned would be a disaster. They will be more than Happy keeping duchene if things end out that way.

It's only speculation, nobody knows for sure what the asking price is and what the teams will offer to Avs for Duchene. Two things are sure tough; he's not untouchable and he's available for a trade. Everything can happen on the trade market; a 1 vs 1 trade for a young D, a package including a 1st round pick and a D prospect, etc. Sakic has also the final word for his player, not me and not you. I still believe a trade for one of #9 or #92 is the only way to strenghen his D for the now and the future.

They have got to protect Picks. He's younger and he's capable of winning some games if you put a legitimate defense in front of him.

I hear ya but I think he goes in a 1 for 1 deal. Its not going to be the 3 or 4 pieces that was originally speculated. Hes still a very valuable player, hes going to be moved but only if they price is what the Avs need it to be, not what is the best on the market. Thats how I see it.

Unlesss someone offers a D prospect or Young D that checks all the boxes for them, he won't go for anything else.

meh. Avs goalies were terrible last year and so was Picks. He had a good World Championship but there are way better goalies available for Vegas. I dont think we have to worry about Picks

They have to figure out the Fluery/Murray situation,
Young goalies like Grubauer, Subban
Decent back ups like Raanta

A lot of teams have a Pickard type goalie they are worried about may or may not be protected. I just dont see him as the 2nd or 3rd best goalie available for Vegas

I imagine Vegas would take Fleury if he's exposed but my gut tells me the Pens trade him shortly after the finals. With Bishop now in Dallas, Raanta seems like a good choice. Grubauer is decent, but I don't think there's a large enough sample size. I wish we exposed Varly instead. Better yet they take Soderberg off our hands but the likelihood of that happening is 0 chance.

I agree with you about the 1 vs 1 trade. I think the Avs will want to get a defenseman who is between 18 and 22, with an offensive potential and ready to play in the NHL or already playing in the big league. Nothing else. Some teams have that kind of young D like the Hurricanes, Islanders, Ducks, Flyers, Bruins, etc.

1 for 1 will depend on the return. Hanifin, drouin for duchene I can see 1 for 1. If it's anyone else it would be a package deal.

If duchene is moved for drouin, I would expect another avalanche move for a dman.

Exactly. To many better goalies available. If I'm Vegas I'm going Rocco. Got to build that ahl team as well and he has done really well there.

I don't want to lose him for nothing. Because he might have value at The TDL. But 9 points in 40 plus games doesn't scream amazing. But he fits what we are doing. The defense going forward will be interesting to watch. As of today we have something like this

Ej-Z
TB4- X
Barbs- beau
Mirnov-lindholm
Bigras

I'm concerned about losing as I am with what They do beau and who they get in a trade. If they get a d in a 9 or 92 trade then we really only have 2 spots open. One on ice and one on the bench assuming mirnov is a 3rs pair guy. In would think lindholm takes one of the spots and bigras pushes for another. Barbs would be nice to keep around but past his coming year I'm okay with him moving on. Like I said, would suck to see him go for nothing, like would like him here till tdl till a rookie can come in.

I dont see any scenario that Beauchemin is with the team next year. I think he is bought out if they can't move his contract. They have the cap space and Sakic said they aren't going to players in UFA. So they will absorb that cap hit for the 1 year and still have 5-8m in cap space probably (if they dont take a cap dump in other trades)

I dont want to lose Barbs either and would love to see

Zads - EJ
Trade - Barrie
Barbs - Mirinov
Lindholm

I dont see Bigras being on the team, there is no need for him to be a healthy scratch after the down years bc of injuries. He needs time in the AHL to get back into the swing of things.

I wouldnt be shocked to see Lindholm to start they year in the AHL either if Barbs goes unclaimed. Siemens and Wiercoich could be brought in to be the 7th Dman, thats ideal for them.

That's the opening night d-line up I have today, but with mirnov on bench and lindholm starting. (That's mainly because I haven't seen mirnov on a small ice aurface)

I agree that bigras will start in ahl but will get the call up sometime next season.

With beau i have 2 scenarios: 1) buy out 2) he'll waive his NMC, and be moved by TDL. I say this because he will still cost us 4.5 M, i don't think his skill set dropped off as much as His skating did. But he was also used in areas which he had no business doing but that was due to injury of so, then tb4 then Z. He's a third pair 5v5 guy now. And even today he is a better player on that pair than lindholm and mirnov due to experience. So I'm not going to shocked when hes still here in come july. Was he bad this year yes. But so was a lot of others.

I'm also interested to see what they do with Soderberg. To me he fell off the cliff more so that beau. If we had to lose One, I would pick Soderberg over beau because of contract length

Soda is going ot be a mystery, not sure what they do with him either. But I can see them keeping onto him to try to build up his worth. They just need to figure out how to use him under Bednar. He really doesnt fit his team model so if they can figure out a role for him.

But if they can move him even retaining a big chunk of his salary, I hope they can do that. He isnt a bad player but he is just a guy more tooled to the slow base possession chip and chase puck retrieval type. I hope Montreal comes calling to bring him back with Claude
