Re: All of this Lavy love and regret that Flyers fired him.
I was a big fan his first 3 years here. But he really lost me in the 2011-2012 playoff series when he made very few adjustments against a Devils team that had the Flyers number from Game 2 on. Agree with Bill that he should've been fired after the following season. Love his passion and up tempo brand of Hockey but this theme that he should still be the Flyers coach is typical grass is always greener BS. |

Agreed. Coaches have a shelf life, it's just the way it is. Keenan, Hitch and Lavi were all excellent coaches, but it was time for a change when they each got fired. The only head coach in Flyers history that I felt was fired too soon was Quinn in 82. |

How long was he in philly? 3 years? 4 years? And Homer completely changed the entire team in that time. To me the Flyers fired the wrong guy. Homer hired a coach well known for coaching a specific style of play and then proceeded to undermine him by building a team unsuited for this style of play. |

We mention laveliotte handling of the goalies as one of the reasons for his exit. Well why isn't hasktol piss poor management of goalies not him exiting? It's also homer job not to over react. He did. And thus nryzgalov happened. And he wasn't patient with guys like Bob. Firing lavy with your only option as berube was poor judgement again from another over reaction from upper management. If you were going to fire him it should of been during a time when we had a shot at a real coach. We haven't had one since. |

Guess the Isles and Canes were idiots too. Ken Hitchcock took the Stars to a Cup in 99, they eventually fired him. As did the Flyers, Columbus and St Louis. So are all of those teams run by idiots or is he a lousy coach?
NHL coaches are hired to be fired. Very, very few last 5+ years with any team. It's just the nature of the business. |

Lavy may have been let go too early but if that's the case so was Hitch. Hitch wasn't given a fair card, hats off to Clarke for backing him to the point he did. |

Lavi should have been fired at the end of 12-13.
It's not the firing of coaches that the Flyers usually bungle but more so who they replace them with. We could have really done without Bob McCammon, Wayne Cashman, Terry Simpson and Craig Berube |

Exactly. They've rarely fired someone and had a strong replacement in line. Replacing Stevens with Lavi is the only example in recent memory that comes to mind. |

I'm with you. That was my main point. Is one we blamed lavy for much of upper management decision making. And two we could of fired at a more ideal time where we had a shot at a real replacement. Those were my issues. I do believe he had his shelf life but the timing etc were just terrible. Holmgren wanted to win I respect that and he made some good deals. But his emotional moves and over reactions also severely broke this franchise. Our coaching has been bottom 5 in the league ever since. And I don't overly blame berube. I feel like he's an awesome assistant coach but he's not meant for hc. |

Pretty sure I didn't call anyone an idiot. I understand that coaches don't usually last long. Still think the coach took the fall for poor decisions made by Flyers management. As the guys above have pointed out, they haven't replaced him with a better coach yet. |

Go Canada!!! Go Flyers!!!
Something I've been thinking about awhile but I think you guys are gonna hate. Depending on what transpires with the Vegas draft and the NHL draft, I wonder if any of you would be willing to part with Giroux and Voracek in a very Carter and Richards like fashion. I think Simmonds can take over as Captain. I think by trading those two, the return would bring much needed depth to the bottom six, cap space and fast track us to where the Flyers need to be. |

I wouldnt this year as I think we are still 2-3 years out from being true contenders.
I also would move Giroux before I would Jake if that opp presents itself over the next few years. |

Penguins team crippled by injuries is back in the Stanley Cup Finals.
All it took was Sullivan inserting Stolarz in the cage to change the series! |

With a win today the Pens go up 3-2 in the series..not quite the same as "back in the Finals"
