Housley's work in the 2013 World Junior tournament was nothing short of phenomenal, and he seems to be coaching the Predators defense the same way he played, which is great. The question is: would he have the horses to do that here? Right now, the answer is no.

nope...but it also took some time for Nashville to get to where they are too...he has two pieces to work with in risto and McCabe, plus another possible (probable) piece in guhle...Antipin loves jumping into the play and he loves floating into the slot...not saying the latter two will be top-four mainstays, but they've got some strong traits that housley might like

Was listening to WGR the other day, and they were talking about the Mcdavid and Eichel extension most likely to take place this summer. They then went on to say the Drasiatl (sp) would be getting around 8-9 million on an extension this summer. That seems absolutely insane number for him. Yes he was awesome this year but 8-9 mill, that's Malkin and Crosby type money, not sure hes there yet (not to say he wont be soon).
Thoughts?

I prefer Housley over Tocchet for the very reason that if anybody can fix this tire fire of defensive puck movement, it's Housley. It would be interesting to say the least.

I was adamant around the time Murray was hired that the Sabres bring in somebody with zero prior ties to the organization, and I still largely feel that way in general, but I can live with the non "folk hero" types like Botterill and possibly Housley because of their credentials.

Draisatl and Mcdavid would make up almost 20 million in cap space, if he got 8-9 and Mcdavid 10

The Blackhawks kept six players, including the twin tower contracts of Kane and Toews during all 3 cup runs. It's not completely far fetched if you feel Draisaitl is a piece a championship team can build around. Personally, I'm not there yet. I'm close, but need to see a couple more years of this.

i'm with you on all of this but would like to add that maximizing offensive production from the forwards also needs attention as well...respect in the locker room will be huge no matter who's head coach

If Eichel is smart, he will leave some room on the table to sign key players to make this team better

I always thought an 8yr./$60M contract would be beneficial to all parties

This, one good season does not make you a 9million dollar player. Didn't Edmonton do this with eberle, hall and rnh? Signed them all to 6 million dollar deals right out of their elcs
