Any update on Couturier's mild case of death that kept him out of the early portion of the tournament?

May 16 is the 32nd anniversary of the Flyers' series-clinching 3-0 win at the Spectrum over the Quebec Nordiques to advance to the 1985 Stanley Cup Final. Dave Poulin's breakaway goal on a 5-on-3 penalty kill early in the second period gave the Flyers a 2-0 lead and became an iconic moment in franchise history.

I can remember this like it was yesterday.

That YouTube clip of Poulin skating down the middle of the ice and going glove high on Mario Gosselin, along with Gene Hart's call of that play, still gives me goosebumps.

I remember it, too. Good times.

What strikes me now about that clip is just how different goaltending is today versus 30 years ago. It was a great shot, and I'm not saying he wouldn't score with that same shot today, but there is no way a goalie of today would've played it like Gosselin did.

That goal absolutely killed the Nordiques... Poulin was such a great captain for the team.

Re: Mock drafts having us taking Patrick

There has been a definite change the last week or two in that people think the Devils will be taking Hischier. It makes sense. The Devils offense sucks. They might as well take the bigger offensive threat. And I'll be thrilled if we get Patrick. I feel like he's the better fit for us too.

Can you explain the better fit part. I feel like the better player is the better fit, so if hischier is the better player, he would then be the better fit.

I just wrote a long paragraph about why it wouldn't surprise me if NJ took Nico. But it disappeared when I hit submit so yeah

It just wouldn't surprise me.

Gosselin was actually pretty good in that series, as I recall.

And then posed long enough for everyone in the arena to snap a pic with their disposable Fuji cameras (free double prints at Fotomat!) lol

IMHO, NJ needs scoring (much like Flyers do) and I think Nico will be the most offensively talented of the two.

Either way, both the Devils and the Flyers will be getting a nice prospect.

I think either way we are getting a future #1 center. It definitely puts the timetable further along than it was last month.
