Thanks Carol! Not a easy time to write, more on Green is always good.

To the Makar lovers: has the kid ever played against top-shelf competition and done well or just dominate the poop league he is in? Just an honest curiousity

"But I am certainly familiar with the rhythms of late-game collapses thanks to watching the Canucks over the past couple of years..."

another great article Carol!

Excited to see what kind of lines Travis Green will roll out (I want to see Hank play wing, and have a better Centre with them till they retire)

If you judge players based on their skillsets, Makar is up there with anyone. Why bother obsessing over who he was playing with/against when +hockey IQ, +vision, +skating, +shot & +competitiveness are apparent - things that should translate at any level once acclimated.

He definitely needs to play in a much better league to prove himself.

Its hard to tell what a players skills are when their peer group is significantly worse than these other prospects. At least with guys like Mittlestadt, we can see his dominance in the USHL and international.

Same goes for the euro's when they get bumped to men's league or international play.

Picking Makar as top D is akin to say the Janitor was the top player in his draft IMO. That isn't to say it can't be true but it's a pretty huge gamble.

You wanted it but never got it..... so here it is..... all the way from the last blog.... me as GMJB praying for 1ov next year.

Well.... a rebuild isn't just a single path. But I'll take a stab at it.

Sedins are here for another year, Edler is not going anywhere.
So... first id stop talking about trading them

Try to trade into the top two, tanev and 5 if that's what it takes. I believe they're the only bonifid top line players in the draft. Draft d from then on and pray to strike gold.
Suck balls next year and trade sbisa et all next deadline for 2018 picks.
Pray for 1ov.... Draft Dahlin 1ov
Spend money on ufa big ticket items.
Bring back tree

Rebuild over, you have your number 1 center, number 2 center, number 3 center locked up.
You have a decent top 4 with a f
Dahlin and oj leading the pack.
Demko graduates to backstop Markey.
Might not be good or great that year, but should be competitive and on the upswing.
Should be competing for the cup I 19/20.

So, that's my plan, just need to win the lottery next year and get to two somehow this year...... easy right?

Ok boys, rip me a new one......
I want to feel the hate

I don't agree with that... IMO a skillset is a skillset. The skills competition puts guys out there against nobody to compare measurables & you can observe hockey sense (or lack there of) in any game situation regardless of competition.

Yup, you have to disregard some stats but if you can watch them play, you cam see there skills, such as speed or acceleration.
What's harder to see is things like accuracy of passes and shots due to quality off competition.

Hello all..off to Vegas. Advice or spots to hit? Food?

I went to a ton of awesome eateries. Most places you can't go wrong at. I only went to a couple pretentious restaurants.

Yard house has good food and a huge beer menu.

My wife would say Cheesecake factory don't ask me why.

One of the best meals I ever had was at a place called Sage in the ARia hotel.

Hugo's Cellar is a steak house I have heard of but never tried. Next trip I am going there.

Robbie schrempf .....guy had more skill than most NHLers...but couldn't put his skill set to use against tougher competition...less time and space to make plays ...sometimes playing against weaker players can make a guy look better
