I haven't watched too much of the Oilers play, but what is your guys take on the play of Russell, has he been holding his own or been a liability? |

So i put down $45 when the Oil were 25-1 and 20-1 longshots. I pick up $1040 if they win the Cup. |

I hope yesterday's draft lottery didn't hit you too hard.

He makes some bonehead plays. That's a given. But he's good in his own zone, blocks a tonne of shots, and gets the puck out. I wish he would look to make a pass first instead of flipping the puck out to centre all the time, but at least he alleviates pressure from Talbot. The way Nurse's play has improved, I really don't see us resigning him anymore. |

I love his shot blocking. It's more important than people think. |

I think that draft lottery will be a good thing for your boys. You will be in prime position to take the best dman in the draft. You guys are already stacked at forward |

You know whats better than shot blocking though? Not allowing the opponent to have control of the puck in your end. |

You think he's bad defensively? |

So you're gonna put that on Russell, the forwards turning the puck over in the offensive zone and him having to defend? |

I get his point but it is just a too simple of a view.
What is even better is if the Oilers never let their opponent control the puck at all during the game. |

That's nice when it happens, but hasn't happened too much in this series |

Miro Heiskanen at 4 would be ideal. As long as Dallas doesnt (frank) us over.
I wouldnt be shocked too see them go Fwd if he is picked by Dallas or even the Flyers.
It all depends on what the get from the Duchene trade...just a Dman...can they get a fwd or another draft pick with a Dman for him.
Hague or Foote in the later part of the 1st round would be targets if they can get another pick. Avs will be a busy team draft day |

It's important but he blocks a lot of shots because he's not a great posession defender. Teams with great shot blocking numbers usually have a defender or two that aren't great at puck retrieval. (or in Edmonton case are balls at faceoffs).
I like him but he wont be a long term fixture. Nurse is getting better all the time. They'd only keep him if he were willing to be a rotational dman. |

Of course Erik Karlsson was one of the leagues best shot blockers this year so what the hell do I know. |

It looks to me like there will be a number of good dmen in the 1st round. I hope the Oilers can land one of Foote, Hague, or Timmins with their pick. Unfortunately we don't have another one until round 3 so we better make it count. |

That's what we really need is a good faceoff guy. We must be the worst in the league. It's going to come back and bite us during these playoffs. |
