Funny how people view things sometimes. Here in Calgary we have Todd saying he thinks gm has done enough to renew contract but 2hrs north we have the worst gm in the league according to some, and yet here we are talking about brads job and not peters. Funny how you guys operate your blogs. But hey, wtf do I know compared to all these future armchair gms waiting for the flames job! Lmao. Hit the golf course already and think about what you say before printing it.

Honestly, almost all of us are puzzled by this. The fans like/trust BT and we think he has done enough to earn a new contract. Sure, he has signed a few bad contracts (Bouma, Engellund, Brouwer and Raymond) but all 4 of those players smell like they were influenced by Burke to me.

Bouma and Engellund are Burke type players and Burke would have been familiar with Raymond from his days in Toronto.

I give BT a pass on those three contracts as they were signed while this team had a pile of cap space and was rebuilding. Also, he was a rookie GM who was most likely following his bosses advice.

Brouwer was a bad signing and was one that BT should have avoided (even if he was being pressured by Burke to sign him). But even when you count all of those signings against him I think the good outweighs the bad (Hamilton trade, Frolik signing, Brodie, Gio, Johnny & Monahan's extensions).

Maybe BT has had a few offers and knows his market value? If the Flames aren't willing to pay him there are several other teams who will. Hopefully we don't lose a good GM just to save a few dollars...

If only Brad was as smart as Chia. I mean, it takes a pretty savvy GM to take Connor McDavid with the 1st overall pick

i dunno about bt, that's for flames fans to decide. Seems like he built a pretty deec team to me

But as far as pc, meh. He was never anywhere near a bad gm.
People just jumped all over the hall trade assuming it just happens in a vacuum and pure talent is the only that that came into play.

Larsson has been a horse for us. Going into another season without a significant change on the backend wasn't even an option. Not only that, but it shouldn't be forgotten that it freed up cash to sigh looch.
Looch and Larsson >> hall.
Plus a number of saavy moves that have insulated Connor and given the oilers the ability to stay competitive against different styles of hockey.

However I will say the seguin trade turned out pretty bad. But his bruins team the very next year won the presidents trophy and if not for running into an unconscious price in the playoffs, they the favs to win it all. For the 2nd time in 4 years

I'm actually interested in seeing what Lazar can do with a full year in Calgary. Really makes you wonder what was going on with him in Ottawa. Kid had 1 point in 33 games in Ottawa and 3 points in 4 games in Calgary on the 4th line.

His end of season interview was about how he plans to go beast mode next year. As a right shot I think he'd make a good line mate with either Bennett or Jankowski next year.

Bennett pretty much had Brouwer dragging him back all year and was finally able to flourish once the anchor was dropped to the 4th line.

Bennet breaking out makes you infinitely deeper and a better team. And the talents there. That scares me. I hope he doesn't

Some are rejoicing in the fact that Scott Darling won't be our starter.

While we're waiting for:
a) Game 3 in the Oilers/Ducks series
b) the Flames to tell us who the next GM will be
c) the expansion draft
d) decent golfing weather
d) all of the above
e) none of the above

here's a video called:

12 minutes of Matthew Tkachuk pissing people off as a rookie

Kassian, Luc, and Maroon were all good pickups that really changed the look up front.

Luc's contract will not look so good in 3-4 years but the way the team is clicking right now I am sure you are not too worried.

I am happy for the decent Oil posters (you being one of them), and as hard as it is to admit the Oil are a fun team to watch. But there is a part of me who wants them to crash and burn so we don't have to put up with the idiots coming in here pretending like the last 10 years never happened. I am sure you understand.

There are members of our fanbase with somewhat short memories lol.

If we get 4 solid years out of Looch it was worth it. If he can even stay functionally relevant until contract end it would be great.

There is some disagreement amongst the base a out whether MacT or Chia is ultimately responsible for signing Talbot, but in the end Chia's name is on that deal and I would argue that he is just as important as drafting Jesus or maybe even moreso.

I am one of the few that never had an issue with the Larsson deal.
