"Perhaps McPhee is willing to take forward Matt Moulson's contract of Buffalo's hands in exchange for a premium 2017 draft choice."

Perhaps he isn't willing. Give your head a shake.

Kane in Vegas, what could go wrong?

Kane in Vegas is crazy. If we have a chance to get some dead weight off of this roster, you do it. Kane is at least productive. I don't know what Kane could fetch in a trade but I know either trading him or keeping him on the roster are much preferred to losing him in the expansion draft while we keep multiyear overpriced barnacles on the roster. Good lord, Garth.

The Sabres are not cashing in a "favor" and having that be given Vegas Kane for free, that's ridiculous. I mean really, Garth? REALLY? The Sabres can't trade Kane who had almost 30 goals this past season and acquire even a 4th round pick for him, they need to cash in a favor to get him off the team. The favor will mostly likely be Moulson or not touching Ullmark.

Where do you start?

The Vegas fan base is a smart, passionate hockey culture
Really? What is this analysis based upon? I would say Buffalo has a smart, passionate fan base, but Vegas? Hmmm

Kane's size, speed, skill, and swagger make his a desirable brand ambassador for Las Vegas and the Golden Knights.
Evander Kane....Brand Ambassador! Good luck with that one.

My guess is that Murray was adamant about McPhee taking one of his bad contracts like that of Matt Moulson ( $5M x 2 years) or Tyler Ennis ($4.6M x 2 years).
Finally, after a year of wacky trade proposals seeing either being traded for Cam Fowler or Montour, Garth finally admits those two players have negative trade value

To steal a phrase, the Buffalo Sabres would be wise to hire Rick Dudley to become Team President and allow him to hire a coach and GM. They would also be wise to keep the Pegula's out of the hiring process.

Just my opinion here, but McPhee as Vegas GM owes the Sabres NOTHING.

If Murray did McPhee a favor when McPhee was GM of the Washington Capitals, and Buffalo wants to cash in, then the Sabres need to take that up with the current Caps GM. Vegas had nothing to do with that transaction.

McPhee doesn't owe the Sabres anything. He owes Murray a favor. Last I checked the Sabres fired him. I sure Murray will land somewhere, either as AGM or something in scouting, and he can call in his favor then.

The other way you can look at it is that the caps owe the Sabres a favor. But if I'm the current caps management, I tell the current Sabres management to take a hike.

Kane off this roster would be a 2 year reversal in the rebuild. If McPhee wants Kane the we will see what they have to offer when they purge the rest of the NHL. Then and only then do we start to make deals.

core: Kane, O'rielly, Eichel, Reinhart, Lehner, Okposo(depending), Ristolienen, Rodrigues and McCabe.

I don't wanna hear your piss on Rodrigues, he appears to want to be a big part of the team in any way he can help. If Evan keeps growing at the rate he's developing I think Rodrigues could fill Ennis's role. I like his game. Wish we has Jamie McGinn to go with him.

Make your frigging mind up Garth. First you were all we have to trade for Kane and should give up whatever it costs. Now you want to get rid of him? Like for F-Sakes man your writing is just wa out there.

How exactly is Rodrigues part of the core? Lol were you just trying to make a joke? Just because he wants to help the team doesn't mean he's part of the core. Might as well put Girgensons and Larson in as our core to.

Our core right now is Eichel, Ristolainen, Kane, ROR and Okposo. Reinhart is kind of part of and kind of not. He's our best trade chip for a top D.

Lehner hasn't done much to prove he's part of the core.

So you think mcphee will sewer his new team which just paid 500m to get into the league by trading a 1st (most likely a lottery pick) and a high second for 1 year(which they have 0% chance of winning) of evander kane who they could sign as a ufa next year if he wants to play in Las Vegas because buffalos former gm did him a favor when he was a gm of another team. Very good.

Question if I may Sir:

Assuming this discussion did happen between GM's as you say in February, what do you feel the penalty should be for both Las Vegas and Buffalo for discussing player personnel related matters before one of the parties was authorized by the NHL to conduct official business?

Las Vegas was green lit to begin conducting official business on March 1, 2017.

GMTM was a man of few words, and those few words were too often careless and ill-chosen. By publicly announcing that McPhee owed him a favor, and implying that the favor would be delivered, Murray assured that McPhee would be subject to accusations of irresponsibility (to Las Vegas) or collusion. It may well be true that, as rumored, TM's inability to control his mouth made others reluctant to deal with him.

The Pegulas own the team...so who would keep them out of the hiring process? Someone they hired? Or are you saying Rick Dudley would do that?

Thanks for the clarification.

Pegula hires Dudley (great hockey mind. experienced) and he and the wife get out of the way and left dudley run the show. Pegula will have more time to concentrate on his core competency. Fracking. Making big money. And destroying the earth.

Pegula is out of the fracking business. He sold his company. A long time ago. Don't avail yourself of any actual facts, to do so would be to reject and betray your ideology. Never let the facts interfere with your grandstanding. Direct your comments to Obama's environmental protection agency, who some time ago announced that they found fracking to pose no environmental threat.

You should give your head a shake friend. The whole report is that the Sabres would eventually be sending one of their bad contracts (Bogosian, Moulson or Ennis) to the Knights.

You're are an idiot on the whole Pegula comments. Like your comments are just stupid.

How is Dudley a great hockey mind? Just wondering because the Canadiens are basically successful because of their goaltending. In the past his best move has been the acquisition of Ladd and Byfuglien since then he's been quiet as a church mouse.

Better off with Dubas or Zito.

Garth is dumb. Give him a break. He was basically on his knees when the Sabres were in talks with the Jets to bring him here. Now he wants him out of here for nothing.

Kane's not just productive. Guy is one of the best power forwards in the league.
