The Blue Jackets would be wise to grant Zito permission to interview with Buffalo. He is ready, willing and able to be an NHL GM. He is progressive, forward thinking, and has a real keen eye for young talent. Zito can scout and identify future stars like nobody's business.

I do believe the same thing was said about Murray four years ago. Have we not learned anything?

I repeat. No team will be giving up a premium D man for Evander Kane. If anything, he only has one year left on his deal then is a UFA

If you are Ron hextall do you trade one of the 3 you mentioned or Kane?

So the assistent gm was the mastermind behind the jones trade?

He will also be able to trade the Sabres bad contracts for qualtiy assets?

I luv your blogs best on internet by far

How, How, How on this earth could they have even considered Drury, who screwed the Sabres through an illegal "wink-wink" agreement with the Rangers while he was still under contract here, then lied through his teeth costing Buffalo the chance to retain Briere, and stabbing Buffalo in the back? Let him stay with the "team of my dreams".

EFF Chris Drury.

That is the second time he has spruned us. Everyone's darling shook on a deal with Regier and renigged. Now, if it was the Rangers not allowing Drury without asking him, it's one thing, but it clearly says he was asked. His reply is a nice way of dodging the whole thing.

What young guy would Not want to interview for a GM? Obviously Chris.

Buffalo fans, he does not like us. Wake up.

To be fair, wouldnt anyone here give thought to their current situation before accepting a position where you would have to uproot your family? Drury always wanted to play for the Rangers and got his wish. I dont fault him for that at all. Regier should have worked out a deal far sooner than waiting til the end of the season or trading him at the deadline for assets or such

Now he's saying that he likes where he's at and lives a very comfortable life. How can you fault a guy for not wanting to come here for those reasons? I can see if he was offered the GM's position in 2 or 3 places and chose another city besides Buffalo. Then maybe you can get upset that he didnt choose us, but thats not the case yet

There was no chance that Regier would have trade Drury or Briere at that trade deadline. They were at the top of the standing all year, ended the regular season at the top, and we're the favorites to come out of the east, not just at the start of the playoffs but throughout the year.

Drury and Briere could have both walking in Regier's office the night before the trade deadline, told him that there was 0% that they would re-sign, and he still would not have traded them. There was no way he was giving up the chance they had that year.

Regier's mistake was not take the picks for Vanek in the off season after watching those two walk.

Agreed, we were the best team that year and all in. Its a shame they didnt resign prior to that season starting. I also blame the owners at the time as i think 5Mx5yrs for both Briere and Drury would have done it.. Then you sign Brian Campbell to, let's say, 3.5-4Mx5yrs, and then let Vanek get offer sheeted to the Oilers in exchange for first round draft picks.

The fact they through everything at Drury and let Briere idle until it was too late, they end up losing both and felt they had no choice but to save face and match Vanek's offer.

The what ifs!!!

So, Drury not wanting to come here is understandable. His lack of experience would be of concern though the guy is a winner at every stage of his life. Loved his leadership!!

Any team would. Especially if they are in need of a 200 foot heavy all around player.
