I haven't been this disappointed since Gretzky was traded to the Kings.

I have the Pens, Rangers, Ducks and Preds advancing. But those Sens worry me with their propensity for epic comebacks.

I asked myself "why am I reading this garbage?" much sooner than I usually do.

why not base the match-ups on the last 7 games to mirror a series?

Are these real predictions, or just having fun with numbers?

I'm thinking...why not make predictions based on extensive hockey knowledge and gut feelings.

No knowledge needed for this.

This only makes sense if he were to possess extensive hockey knowledge to begin with. Ek doesn't watch Western conference hockey. Hence his going 0 for 4 on his first round predictions. Heck he even predicted Anaheim to beat Calgary in round 2.

I feel like people pick the Pens because of old ghosts. Maybe I keep underestimating my team, but I've said this in various posts here; Letang not being in lineup seals the deal for the Pens.

It would take a major implosion on behalf of the Caps or Holtby all of a sudden playing like crud for the Pens to take this one.

Ovie deserves his shot and I firmly believe he gets it this year.

I still think the Caps are playing regular season hockey in the playoffs. They look for the perfect play setting up one timers and too often, it's broken up and the play is headed to their end of the ice. I see a tentative Shattenkirk out there who hasn't really added much to the Caps.

A friend of mine who is a life long Blue's fan told me as far back as 2 years ago, that losing Shattenkirk would be an addition by subtraction. I don't see the Blues much but... They're moving on to the second round without him.

The Caps didn't exploit the Leafs D as much as they should have. When they got a lead they sat back and the Leafs used their speed to get back and/or come back and win. The Pens and Caps know each other very well.

One thing which might play in the Caps favour is something I learned many years ago regarding my Red Wings. When they would play an easy first round, often they'd be knocked out the next round against a team which had to scratch and claw out of the first round.

Similarly, when the Wings would have a tough first round series, they seemed to carry that confidence over into the next round and go on a long playoff run. Adversity builds confidence. Even though the Caps won in 6, they could've very easily lost in 5. The games and series was that close.

If I'm the Caps, I'm happy that MAF is in goal for the Pens. He's done a good job but he does give up some bad goals.

I understand your point about not having Letang in there. He is very important to that team in all phases of their game. But you still have Crosby and Malkin. Geno is healthy this time. He wasn't last year. The Pens forward depth is still a factor.

I say Pens in 6. They are still a faster skating team than the Caps are and can match it with elite level skill especially on the Power play.

Bottom line for me is this... Until the Caps prove they can do it, I don't believe they can do it. I know the Pens can because they've proven it. That's why I'm picking the Pens to win this series.
