what is the plan there? Are you looking to add a few pieces to get over the hump, are you re-building? any of your high priced guys availble via trade? If you are re-building or re-shuffling I'd love for the Jets to take a run at Zajac or Schneider?

Last couple years the Devils have cleared out contracts/stockpiled picks. going to put them to use to improve this summer

Cammalleri is probably available if you're into that sort of thing. With Schneider it depends on how aggressive Shero is at fixing the defense. If he's really aggressive, you keep Schneider. If it looks like a 5 year-plan, Schneider should be dealt this summer.

I think we keep Zajac, trade Cory. Just my opinion and what appears to make the most sense at the moment.

Damn Lou and his trade for Cory. Could've had a few studs by now

There was never really a doubt that BB was talented, he just had horrible luck with injuries with the Pens and got passed up by other prospects. Good to see him doing well with NJ.

Wouldn't it only be one? Wasn't the trade Cory for the 9th overall pick?

This team's got another two to four years of tanking to it. If I was the Devils, I'd trade Schneider or Zajac; Shero might move Zajac, doesn't look like he's getting rid of Schneider.

Yeah, and if I was Lou, I'd do the trade again. We could have chosen Nichushkin, Domi, or Horvat (though he was a bit lower) at the spot, but Lou was trying to restore the Devils... maybe even using the trade in hopes Kovy would stick around.

We would have been terrible much sooner without Cory and most likely would've had much higher picks in 2015 and 2016 which obviously held McDavid/Eichel + Mathews/Laine respectively. Not saying we actually end up in the position to draft any of them, but i'd rather have been terrible since 2012 (hindsight being 20/20 )as opposed to continuing the Lou patch job that is plaguing us to this day.

If the Devils control the play so much when he is on the ice, then why did he wind up with only 15 points.

Bennett did due less damage to the team then Severson though, whose -30 is beyond defending.

I don't think he's ever going to put up solid numbers

This is based on my vast knowledge of all things hockey

I agree with the question. Not to mention the guy was injured for 15 games again this season. Although only missing that many games is an improvement by his standards.(Not exactly certain on the number of games, just a guesstimation) I'm an advocate of Severson, I'm not gonna beat up on him. He's the only bright spot on our defensive corps and the only hope on our blue line for the future as of right now. Give the kid a break.

They were top of the league going into the postseason. Do you think +/- is what determines playoff play?

Larsson must have felt awesome putting down PDB's Sharks. The handshake was probably a special one for the Swede after his tunure with the devils under ol Pete.
