I don't see Tippett going anywhere, but you're right, getting rid of him is step one. |

But i guess we need to back up a little bit James..............
Considering you also predicted the Hawks to MISS the playoffs in the first place.

I blame Miss Cleo on that one!!
To be fair, I did pick the Flames to upset their way to the Cup, but that was in just off the top of my head, I talked all year about how the Hawks were a paper tiger.

As one of only three teams that had an xGoal deficit, maybe they should have. |

They got steamrolled by a hot team and goalie...it happens. Preds were by far the better team. I don't think that means Chicago couldn't beat say...Minnesota |

I hate to be that guy, but it's Sutter, not Suter.
Also, as a Kings fan it's hard to know whether to recommend Sutter to coach the Coyotes. He undoubtedly would help them bring up their CF differentials, but I worry that he would not allow guys like Dvorak, Keller, Domi, et. al. to fully maximize their skill sets. He is a good coach, but he is one who forces players to play to his system, not to their strengths. |

NO it's Ok, there are times when it's helpful and important to point out spelling mistakes - like if it's in the title or it's a noun.
Appreciate it. As to Sutter, I think history tells us that those kinds of players running free and doing the offensive thing doesn't lead to success.
You can have a Kane, or a Kessel, and weaponize them, but you better have a deep team that can pull that off or it hurts more than it helps.
Look at Kopitar. He was picked 12th or something and I bet no one predicted he'd become one of the best all-round players in the NHL, or same thing with Kadri and Babcock.
If someone can team Domi how to play without the puck..... |

The Ducks are incredibly overrated and Carlyle is a bad coach. Case in point, I am pretty sure i saw Korbinian Holzer on the ice at a crucial time the other day.
They're overachieving ...but if anthing, I underestimated the abilities of Kesler and also Murray to put together a good team. I give zero credit to Carlyle, who remains the worst coach in the NHL by a mile. |

Gardiner's still up for debate...lets see what his Corsi is after a full year of playing on the top pair.
I'm pretty confident it will slide down into the same range as Z and Rielly...as he's already had some 20-30% CF games since being moved up.

On paper, the Hawks are just as good, if not better than most teams competing in the playoffs. That being said, all teams in the NHL and especially in the playoffs, are extremely closely matched due to the parity in the league these days. It comes down to mostly mentality and luck when it comes to the playoffs. The players on the Hawks did not come ready to play and if you actually watched every game in the series you could easily see this. This is why the Hawks lost the series and eventually got swept by a Preds team that came inspired and played like they weren't scared of being there. |

Its almost as if Fowler and Vatanen were not playing and Lindholm was injured for the final 5 minutes. Carlyle's options were
Manson
Bieksa
Theo
Montour
Holzer
And Manson couldn't play the final 5 minutes alone. And they still won.

It is frustrating at times, but to be honest with you, it's pretty embarrassing to put Suter instead of Sutter cause that's not an error. That's just me being confused about how you actually spell his name.
Most times people mocking me for typos is pretty lame. Then again, yesterday I trolled a right wing guy who turned out to have a 100k followers and it turned out that 300 people who can't spell at all were calling me stupid.......so there's lines and stuff. I get it.
Plus, I'm pretty close to perfect, so sometimes dudes only have the spelling thing at their disposal it's all good.

What you do is you keep Holzer on the bench, take one of Lindholm's skates and just throw it randomly in the defensive zone and play with four players. |

I assume you mean "shouldn't"?
So a team that wins their conference "shouldn't" be in the playoffs?
Since we are catching up. Do you still rate Josi as around 25th or so in the league for D-men? |

I mean, yeah that's always an option.
You might not like Carlyle, but if you saw the bottom 6 Murray put together for most of the season, the fact that the Ducks won the Pacific is amazing.
If you only look at Carlyle's tenure in Toronto, sure terrible. But if you look at this season, its very difficult to say he hasn't improved and the team is firing on all cylinders. |

The Blackhawks would have lost to any playoff opponent with the level of "compete" they played with. Doesn't mean they shouldn't have made it. |

The proper answer to the previous question was "should" not "shouldn't"
And parity being what it is, the Kings missed the Playoffs, so sure the hawks could also have.
As for Josi, 25th sounds about right. |
