Tim Murray's only crime thus far as been not improving the D one iota this off season. The Lehner trade (while a bit of an overpayment) isn't as bad as people make it out to be. He fleeced Colorado for O'Reilly, and I'd say we won the Kane trade, unless Armia takes a giant leap next year. Psysk for Kulikov was bad, i'll give you that. Give him this off season. If the Sabres aren't on the cusp of a playoff spot, look elsewhere.

Wow Tanner, it looks like you're working overt time. Whenever I visit this site, I see you come up with a new article each time. LOL.

I completely agree with you on the Islanders keeping Snow. That is the most absurd thing ever. I guess they think coming close to making the playoffs is a good thing.

Fair enough. Blysma definitely has to go. Personally, I don't think the O'Rielly trade counteracts the terrible things he's done with his defense, but you're the Sabres fan, so if you're fine with him that's fine with me. I just think he's too old school and not interested enough in how things actually work - Kulikov for Psysk perfect example.

First of all....Happy Easter weekend to you and your family Jimmy boy.

Secondly, you know what's sad, that you're in your 30's and this is the best hockey game you've ever seen, like WTF man?

Sabres have good players, they just need a whooping during the regular season to play consistently. They can't rely on Eichel to bail them out every game and blame his injury for a failed season. The GM should've addressed in during the season and not just let it play out. The coach should've made the vets work twice as harder!

I say this team need a coach like Darryl Sutter! I can see him whipping this team into a legitimate playoff team. They have the pieces in place.

Yeah well, blame Harold Ballard, Cliff Fletcher, Brian Burke, John Ferguson Jr, Paul Maurice and Dave Nonis.

Oh and a happy Easter to you my friend.

I'm just saying, there's been some pretty fantastic hockey played over the course of your life, non Leaf hockey, but great hockey none the less.

Unless of course you're only referring to Toronto Maple Leaf hockey? But you didn't say that.

Blysma needs to go bad, I'm not sure if I want Sutter or Quinn from Boston U, and not just because of the Eichel connection. We can't even blame the injury for missing because we played less then .500 hockey after the all star break. Losing Johan Larson a good possession driver and Okposo was big down the stretch, but the D is just not good enough. Needs to be overhauled this off season.

PS, not rooting actively for the Leafs but have to give respect to them.

Edit: I can see why it's viewed as bad now, but then it was awesome.

As a Jets fan, I agree, Maurice needs to go and as for Chevy, time to step up or this is your last summer. go get a goalie, depth on D and maybe decide to make a trade other than when your hand is forced. Chevy has done an excellent job drafting, now use some of that depth to push this team over the top.

you won the Kane trade? seriously? Myers and Stafford have more points in a Jets jersey than Kane and Bogo in a Sabres. Armia is looking like a solid player we are afraid to lose in expansion, Lemieux is shaping up to be the future pest/poop disturber our team needs and Jack Raslovik will be an excellent 2nd line center in the NHL if not top line center.

I can't, knew the guy who used to be the media rep for the leafs. He always said how great guys like gilmour or tucker were to work with but Mats was far and away the biggest ass to him and all surrounding staff. I'm not a Leaf fan but I also thought it was Richard move to not waive his no trade then go and sign with Vancouber a month later.

Sorry, man. Your LA Kings take was bad. Sutter and Lombardi are the reason the Kings didn't make it this year.

Lombardi broke the team with bad contracts and refusing to give Sutter anything to work with up front.

Sutter screwed himself by not making the most of what he had, making brutal lineup decisions, refusing to play the young skilled guys with other skilled guys, and generally letting the speed of the modern NHL pass him by.

If they didn't lead the league in possession I'd concede you have a point. But I believe they are a good team that had bad luck scoring. They also have 2 elite defenders, one of the best all-round players in the game and two recent Cups.

Fact is, if Jeff Carter doesn't go bizarrely cold for the last month and a half, they make the Playoffs easily.

Saw this blog comin as soon as they potted that winner. Helluva game. It's fun when u got not stake in it. No stress.
Well played and congrats

And yes, gardiner was fantastic last night.
It's funny too, cause the last time I remember thinking that was the last time the leafs were in the playoffs. Big game player?

But I take back my preds as good a 8 seed as leafs back.
They're better. No goals against in 2 games and dominant against a dynasty team.
