I think we are more worried about Schneider and Hall toiling away on bottom feeders then we are or feel bad for Zajac. He is a solid player but I don't think he is good enough to say he deserves to win or is being wasted on a bad team. |

Schneider and Hall have a lot more gas in the tank, which is why I mentioned Zajac. But I agree. |

Hall is only 25.
And Schneider . We have some great goalies in the system.
Kinkiad, Wedgewood , Applby ,Blackwood.
As far as forwards. We are getting better.
Quenneville , Zacha , Wood , Speers , Bastain , Anderson , Kerfoot , Mcleod .
Defense is where we are hurting.

Come on, Todd! You know you can't give the Selke to a guy who scraped this year.

While we missed the big dance, I suspect Zacha will get some votes for the calder and don't sleep on Scheids getting the tap for Vezina this year. Anyone with a set of eyes knows the refs screwed us over this year.
Overall good votes. But for reals, anytime Kyle "the journeyman" Palmeri gets an award you know you're scraping the bottom. |

Yeah no argument here - shvingter88
No one should get any awards for anything on this team ever.

two awards that could be real tough to choose?
Kessell Trophy - most overrated
my vote is Andy Greene
Lecavalier Trophy - underachievement award
my vote is Adam Henrique

Watching the end of the Blues/Wild game. Weird seeing Marty upstairs for one team, and Stevens on the bench for the other. |

Man I'm starting to reconsider that Hall trade. Larsson is really coming into a force. |

I'm sorry, but am I the only who laughed at seeing our players names next to these awards? |

No one has mentioned how we became a worse team this season without Lars than we were last season with him. No one talks about how Edmonton looked like a totally different team without Hall and with Larsson this year. Not to mention the obvious, which is they made the playoffs for the first time in yeaaaarrrrsss without Hall. We scored one less goal this season with Hall than we did last year without him. Yet, everyone says they still make that trade 100 times out of 100.
I get we were and still are an offensively starved team, but thinking about these factors is very concerning to me. These signs point to Hall making the team he plays for worse wherever he goes. Call me crazy, I know. |

I'm going to call you crazy. Did people not realize the Devils would get worse in the short term with this move? You trade away your best defender (sad as it is to say) and it's going to have a big impact when there's little to no depth behind it. Admittedly it was worse than I thought, but that's primarily because Schneider had a bad year and Greene and Cammalleri had sharper declines than I expected. Anyone blaming Hall is as nuts as the writer in Edmonton who thinks they're in the playoffs because of that trade and the coach and not McDavid. |

I think everyone mentioned it. The Devils needed to get some offense, desperately. Can't fault Shero for the trade, but I don't think anyone thought we were going to replace Larsson with Lovejoy, let Schlemko walk and be set on defense.
Shattenkirk is going to get a huge pile of cash, the Devils are probably better off trying to shore up the defense by signing a steady top 4 guy like Alzner, then trade for some help. They have a thin prospect pool, but they have the draft picks and cap space to be an attractive trade partner for a cap strapped team.
One thing Shero needs to do is decide are we going full blown rebuild? And if we are he has to make the painful moves, like making guys like Zajac, Greene and Schneider available. Or do we go for immediate improvement, in which he needs to be very aggressive about paying for talent and trading for roster players.
The middle of the road add a few picks here and there thing isn't going to get us there. |

I'm not blaming Hall. I just think that as Larsson continues to grow we are seeing how hard he is to play against and that he does a ton of things to help you win games. Hall is an elite player but does he do as many things that win games or does he just fly around the ice and produce points. I know it sounds crazy cause isn't that what you want out of a forward ? I am just worried that Hall is the Elite complimentary piece and not that Elite building piece, like Kessel. We all know how dangerous Kessel is but outside of sniping some goals is he the type of player that helps you win games or prevents you from losing them ??? Larsson is a 23 year old d man who logs big minutes and I think does a very good job in preventing his team from losing. |

I don't think any of us here thought we'd get worse after the trade. In fact, most of us thought we were a short step or two away from going back to playoff hockey after this trade. I'm not putting the step back this season entirely on Hall. The decline of greene and cammy def hurt us I can agree with that. Schneider had an off year, but even worse, he appears to be discouraged with the direction of the team. I think that def affected his play as well.
Many factors into the team being worse this year. The fact still remains though, this team performed better without Hall than it did with him. |
