it wasn't the fan base that overhyped Tanev, it was the coach. When he announced that Tanev had made the team last fall he stated " I knew he was going to be on this team from what I had seen of him last spring." What did he see that no one else saw?
A minor leaguer with NHL speed but it takes more than that to play in the show, you still have to produce some offence.

Put Petans head and hand in Tanevs body and you have a great player.

Simply put - we have to get deeper ... just talking about forwards, then, Matthias-Lowry-Armia make a solid 4th line ... we need a solid 3rd line, however ... we were 7th in league scoring and had the only team with 4 players with 60+ pts (I think that's right (?)) ... so we can put the puck in the net, well, our top 6 can

So - for sake of argument, we need 3 producing NHL-ready forwards to play 3rd line .... unless Chevy wheels n deals, those 3 are going to be YOUNG ... Connor, Dano, Roslovic, Petan, Copp, Tanev - for starters .... can we get an NHL producing 3rd line outa that group next season ? ... doubtful ... they'll cycle through the 4th line, again, and do their best
