Great job Noel! No question Garth's job should be in big time jeopardy.

Isles continue to reward failure. This also seems like a make JT happy move.

JT and these players do not want a hard ass outsider coach. So we have the same GM and coach. People will be running for the POHO job.

I would also expect some clarity in coming days/weeks on NYI long-term arena/home issue. All signs pointing towards the Belmont, NY, site.

Belmont makes sense. Wish the front office and coaching moves made sense.

Frank! As a leaf fan I know you're frustration! I think Doug has a place for sure in this organization, maybe assistant advisor or assistant gm?but their is going to be a good amount of coaches who are experienced that should of been in consideration? And what about Lombardi as gm?the problem he ran into was loyalty to players with big contracts that hand cuff the team!given another opportunity I doubt he does that again? But even a better choice would be mike futa from the kings to right the ship! Good luck with the off season and hopefully a playoff berth next!

I have no issue with Weight being the HC. He did a very good job, My hope is he can bring in his own assistants especially some one to run the PP. My biggest concern is this probably means Garf is staying.

I'm okay with Weight getting a chance as the full time HC. He earned a shot with the team's finish and we know JT is very fond of him. Its a solid move.

That being said, I'll repeat what I said yesterday that Weight has lots of room for improvement, in particular the team's power play. That was his baby the past few seasons and the PP has sucked. I also think it would be wise for Weight to move on from his current assistants and get some new blood behind the bench with him, in particular coaches with strong special teams and defensive backgrounds, to help fix the Isles' most glaring issues.

24-12-4, Final 6 wins without your best player, great communication with players who obviously responded, the only mistake with Weight was not giving him the reins earlier. Snow may stay, but Weight can do the job, who were we getting, Ruff? Hitchcock? A full season with Weight who now will have more of a voice on personal decisions, this team simply did not deserve the playoffs, not when you bury yourself that early, so I look forward to next year, get JT signed, get the hell out of that junkyard of an arena, and Lets Go Islanders!

I'm ok (not in love) with Weight as the coach. As long as they bring in someone to fix the damn power play.

Also with all the money with this team ,they need to go back to long lsland! With a new arena, or could they reconstruct the old one? With more seats and boxes? What says you guys would love to hear your thoughts! It's bullshat the islanders are not in the playoffs, because of the great rivalries they have made over the years, and that has made for some great hockey! !!

Also Douge staying likely means JT does as well. I have no proof, just a strong feeling based on JT literally used to live with Doug.

24-12-4, over a full season 48-24-8, I'll split the other 2 49-25-8 thats 106, nough said about that. I'm trying not to lose my shit over this, but it's not easy. (Over the situation, not your post).

This tells you all you need to see about who will be the GM next year. I'll give Weight the benefit of the doubt with the PP because they weren't making major systematic changes in the middle of clawing their way back to the playoffs. So if he gets it tweaked in the offseason/camp then great. If not, this was a terrible hire.

But it's really feeling like this is the same circus with a new ringleader.
