No surprise from me. They were never a bubble team in my mind.

Nice to see some talent on the way up.

Thanks for everything Bill. Enjoy the summer with the wife and kids!

That is the last time I watch S2TP live tweets instead of watching the actual game

Thought Hagg looked great even though the game didn't really feel quite like a regular NHL game.

Was happy the Konecny turnover led straight to a goal like that. It was for a great cause. It hopefully was also a learning experience.

Biggest, best takeaway from the final three games was how well Morin and Hagg looked (albeit in limited sampling). Stolarz as well.

Sad that VDV wasnt one of the "Ironmen" CSN listed for playing all 82 games. He was in our hearts (Hakstol included)

Oh well, at least it's over. If nothing else, this season brought us the debut of Provorov, and I think he exceeded even the most optimistic projections! This kid is special and I can't wait to watch him continue to develop into one of the best Dmen in the NHL.

Now I just want to see the Pens & Rags quickly bounced from the playoffs and on to the draft and the off season.

Let's hope for better things in 17-18!

Really Liked the way Coots passed it when he was all alone in front of the net. I expect more of that for the next 5? years...

lol

I didn't want my head buried in my phone. The highlight though was in the beginning of the second period warmups and Cousins skating around with the Hurricanes at the wrong end of the ice.

Also someone yelling "Don't wait for the perfect pass, just shoot the damn puck!!"

The Flyer SHOULD be a playoff team next season. The only real question mark going into the off season as of now is goalie.

There is a very real chance you see this roster next year:

Forwards:
Giroux, Voracek, Simmer, Schenn, Couts, Konecny, Weal, Lindblom, Filpula,Vecchione, Weise, Raffl, Read, PEB.

Defense: Provy, Ghost, Gudas, Morin, Hagg, Sanheim, MacD.

Goalies: Neuvy, ?

Im coining next year ' The Year of the Kids"

Could be, but I don't think they are going to break in 3 rookies together on D. I expect Manning to be the 7th and Sanheim to start the season paired with Myers on the Phantoms top pair.

Couturier finished at +12

That is amazing.

I had a debate yesterday with a guy who wants him gone because he is lazy.

I agreed to disagree.

I'm liking the additions of vecchione and weal. They are pretty dogged on the puck and have good defensive abilities too.

I know the D may have some rookies....but Christ, I thought both Morin and Hagg looked as good if not better then 3-4 of the vets looked all year. (I do realize its a small sample...lol) But both these guys have now played pro hockey for a couple of years...Its not like the current group wasn't a mistake prone group....at least with rookies you know they are going to get better. Pretty sure with guys like MacDonald, Manning and Delzotto, what you see is what you get.

They have a ways to go before their 200 ft game is fully developed and able to fill the huge void left on the 4th line.

Honestly, I would like to move one, if not both, of Read and Raffl (even if one is taken in the ED, I'd try to move the other). I just don't see them as having a good fit anywhere in the lineup anymore. Weise has started to show some good chemistry with Couts and Schenn, while TK and Weal can be slotted in with G/Jake and Flip/Simmer.

If Lindblom makes the team out of camp, I see him lining up with Veccione and PEB to start the year (plus maybe some time on PP2). That is a huge upgrade compared to the start of last year.

He looks lazy, just the way he skates. I don't see that in him at all....What I do see is a very good 3rd center who would be more valuable if they just let him go play his role.

The first pass, into the corner on the 3-on-1, was horrible. Then the pass into the corner when he was in front with no one within 10 feet of him was...wow.

Oh well, it's over. Hoping for better, more exciting plays next year.
