Peter Tessier: With a Whimper not a Bang- Jets last game Another season comes winding down and finished with the team looking for small victories. Most fans would call them hollow.

Chris Thorburn deserves recognition for the significant work, effort and commitment he dedicated towards becoming a journey man NHL player. His commitment to doing "what it takes "earned him a lengthy career, far surpassing the average career enjoyed by most players who played in the NHL. No doubt his family, fellow players and coaches all played significant roles in aiding him to achieve this goal, but in the end it is he who did the work.

I appreciate the class, he has shown throughout his tenure with the Jets and thank him for being a player who respected the fans and the city at all times by providing maximum effort during every shift of play. He is a true professional who was not hesitant to come to Winnipeg and who wears the Jets crest with pride. He has also made significant contribution of his own time off the ice to the many local communities. I believe he has set an excellent example of the attitude, heart and desire Winnipeg fans hope for from their Jets.

Coaching, goaltending, and luck seem to be the issue form the outside looking in comparing the Jets to the Leafs. Not to say that Babcock is perfect but I think he was able to get the young guys playing responsibly in ways Maurice couldn't. Sure the stats were great but it seems like the details perhaps weren't there. The Leafs were far from perfect this year but one thing they didn't do is go on long stretches of losing like they did in the past, those just kill you. They were also very lucky in terms of injuries, I dont think they had one long term injury this year. If one of Andersen, Matthews, Kadri, etc go down next year they will have a very hard time making it.

All that being said, there's probably no reason to fire Maurice, I think they'll be a year wiser and hopefully get some help in net next year. Personally I really like the Jets roster, Wheeler is a great captain, and they look like they are rebuilding in a smart way.

I listened to all the exit interviews. I think Enstrom's was quite interesting. Major problems and surgery for his knees the last two year plus the recent concussion. Furthermore the Jets just won 7 in a row without him. He is not strong along the boards and in the corners. A 5.75 MM contract with 1 year left. I really don't think Vegas would take him. That is definitely a lot to pay for a guy in his condition and his age. He is the easiest solution to the expansion draft problem. I think if Chevy can get him to waive under the guarantee that if Vegas does select ( I doubt they would though) him they cut a deal to get him back. I don't think that deal would cost that much. Chevy could also get Enstrom to waive and then cut a deal for Vegas not to take him. Might cost a little bit less that way. I'm thinking a 3rd round pick should do it or maybe Postma.

If this can be done then we get to protect:

Sheif, Wheeler, Little, Perreault, Trouba, Buff, Myers, Lowry, Armia, Dano.

Copp would be gone. No big deal.

Also listen to the Perreault interview. Chevy basically told him they will do everything they can to keep him. Really nice to hear those words. A full season of Perreault at his pace over the last 20 games would have him at over 100 points. Top scorer in the NHL. Not a guy you want to lose for nothing.

Too bad Enstrom has a NMC in his contract. You can see that with a D line including Melchiori, Nogier, and Stuart / Strait even did OK (7 wins in a row) without him. I would ask him to agree to waive and let him go if someone would take him. I doubt anyone would. Chevy should give LV a draft pick to take him. His contract at 5 mill + is a waste of money just like Pavs was this year. But ppl will argue, his plus minus is good, he makes a wonderful break out pass, he has a long stick, etc, etc. Who cares?? The proof is in the pudding, even with these AHL / rookies in the line up, they did ok without him. He is terribly weak on the boards, his point total lacked this year, he takes his fair share of stupid holding penalties because he is 5 9.5 and 170 soaking wet, and the team is better without him.

Saw the Moose live yesterday, Connor was flying, lots of good opportunities, Roslovic holds onto the puck with his head up, him and Connor are quite the pair to watch and they find eachother out on the ice. They got a lot of playing time yesterday. Nogier looked ok, nothing fancy, steady, look like good prospects.

time to critique the fans on here. I feel to many of you concentrate on individual stats and lose site that this is a team game and right now the Jets DO NOT have the right mix of players to compete. It doesnt matter if you are a fan of Perrault, lowry, Dano, Petan, Copp or whatever prospect. Chevy needs to make some trades that may not look good on paper but translate to more wins on the ice. Every year we wait for our young players to develop and get better is another year of risking Wheeler, Little and Buff falling off the cliff. Look at Enstrom and Myers both taking steps back cause of injuries and age and I can throw Little in here now to as a health risk. Honestly the Time is Now!!! Dont be afraid to trade a Perrault or Connor or Raslovik. what good is depth if you can not use it to your advantage?

Ross. Its a good thing you are not the GM. The Jets needs are not large. Some better goal-tending and another decent left-handed dman. Thats about it. Making the type of moves you suggest is just plain stupidity.

The Jets would have been playoff bound if they had not led the league in man games lost to injury. Losing Myers in particular hurt us big time,. Add the Trouba holdout and the tough schedule and it was almost impossible to make the playoffs...yet the nearly did. Missed it by 3 wins. There are very few teams in this league that would not have had the same fate under similar circumstances.

With just some better goal-tending the Jets will be top 10 next year . I have little doubt about that. You don't try and make major changes to a team that just needs some tweaking.

I never said major changes. i said dont be afraid to trade assets to improve our team now. I also think we can be great, not just a playoff team, but we have too many of the exact same type of player. Sheifele, Laine, Ehlers, Petan Connor, Raslovik and Little all play the same style of game. I hope someone like Lemieux develops but we need a Simmonds, Tkachuk type guy!! We need a couple better defensive D and yes!!! we need a goalie. I'm just saying with a couple of tweaks we can compete for the cup but it might cost a Connor or Raslovik and thats ok.

Firstly is Jack ROSLOVIC ! Secondly no GM in his right mind would trade Connor and highly unlikely they would trade Roslovic. Petan yes. Lemieux yes. Dano yes. Best bait for trades right now are a few choice draft picks we really don't need. We also have lots of grit on our team. That has not been the problem. Its been goaltending and third line defense and to some degree our fourth line. The fourth line will solve itself next season. Trade Connor.....lol. Never happen. Insanity.
