uhh when u have a #1 stud back there the rest of the defense seems to fall into place. Problem is with Lidstrom gone now the wings need to do one of two things: draft one or trade for one. Because I dont see Cholo as a top pairing guy.
You guys need michigan native Andy Greene lol I actually thought that if we never got anything done with him that he would sign with you guys ala Rafalski
The next generation of Wings starts in this draft.
All previous picks were there to insulate vets that did not get to that level (Nyquist, Tatar, Dekeyser, Sheahan). We have useful prospects in Larkin, Mantha and AA, but none are franchise type players.
Wings could use the kid on D, but their future hinges on the next few drafts IMO, not our past few. Im sure there will be some pleasant surprises and there will be some disappointments.......
Been a die-hard fan of this team since 1987. And this is one of the worst overall teams they've ever had in terms of both offense and especially defense.
Some of the prospects look very good... but let's not kid ourselves this team does NOT have any more Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom, Holmstrom, Shanahan type players. It has mostly way overpaid vets (thanks Holland for handcuffing this team's payroll for the next 3 years) and a few decent regular NHLer's (Tatar, Nyquist, etc..). The goaltending has been very disappointing with Mrazek. He had shown so much promise in the AHL with winning the Calder as a rookie and playing well when he first came to Detroit. Hope he can turn it around.
Praying Holland has enough sense to leave both Helm and Howard unprotected for Vegas to scoop up. Maybe we'd get lucky and get rid of one of those horrendous contracts.
