Frustrating season. Kudos to Provorov for giving me someone new to really rally around in the future. TK as well.

I'll be looking forward to a new look roster this fall. Lord knows Hextall needs to make a few adjustments to the club this off season.

Time to burn half this roster. How is it that they are so good at home and so crappy on the road.... and its not like this is an aberration year. This has spanned several coaches. Maybe they need a little rougher conditions... no more team plane and super nice hotels. Its time for business class and Holiday Inn Express.

To me theres tons to be excited for going forward. New look d next year and going forward with big bodied pick moving dmen and future is bright in goal with what they have in the minors and the only "I don't know " is the future forward prospects going forward. Need some bigger skating forwards with talent to score. I don't think we have any in the minors at this point. Maybe we draft one this year?

Now that the inevitable has taken place the Flyers can start to focus more on the future and put this season to bed.....a few years we will look back on these times and remember that we were actually in the middle of a re-tooling (cool new term for a rebuild)...I won't have any fond memory's except to say "at least we remained some what competitive". I want to focus on what was good this year and some of the strides that the team made. Its just too, too easy to point fingers at some of these players and some of the decisions Hextall and Hackstol made this year and because I really think this team is currently a bottom half team that is a work in progress.

hopefully some of the kids they drafted up front last year will develop. I'm also excited to see what our Future "Hobey Baker" winner will look like in the future.

Get some more kids in the lineup please, starting tomorrow night. At the very least Vecchione should be in, as should Cousins if he is healthy. Also, because I think this game has a good chance of turning ugly, I'd strongly suggest bringing up Morin.

Im not including him....he hasn't played a minute yet of pro hockey in any level except his current. But yes, the forward group is the most concerning to me going forward. I mean we still have vdv, so we can always double shift him to make up for the lack of scoring.

I think this game only becomes ugly if gudas plays.

Maybe, but since neither team is playing for squat and they don't particularly like each other, I'd rather have Morin in the lineup dropping his gloves before someone like Simmonds.

Is there confirmation it's a concussion for Gudas?

Looking at the hit again the impact seems to be mainly with his chest, and I thought I heard a report during the NJ game that he was having trouble breathing during the 2nd intermission.

Meh, I would rather they leave the kids down in Allentown playing for the not yet assured playoff spot. But if they bring up Morin I wont be too busted up. But I really don't want to be bringing him up just to fight. That is just too much pressure for a young kid.

I think of it more as protection for Provorov and Ghost. I want Devil players thinking twice about taking runs at our skilled guys. Besides, Morin has already made comments about wanting to be Ghost's partner in the past, and I think we all know what he was getting at. He's been standing up for teammates all year in LHV, I don't think coming up for 1 game to do the same would be a big deal.

edit: plus there is no reason to rush Gudas back and I've seen enough of half of the remaining 6 Dmen already.

Weise can also fight, but with Prout likely to be suspended I doubt it will be that heated. If you want a guy who can fight, bring up Goulbourne.

I saw a rather silly post yesterday complaining about Simmonds having to defend Gudas, but that's just because he happened to be on the ice at the time. It's not like any team has a strong fighter on every line.

You're probably right, but I go with the better safe than sorry theory when it comes to games like this. Besides, getting a game up would be a nice reward for the kid for his working so hard to improve his game over the last 2 years.

To me this has been a problem all year....when your top goal scorer has to double as a policeman, you have a hole in your line up.....Its not like there is no room for a guy who can provide that role....going forward I really hope Hextall reconsiders the make up of his 4th line.

Agreed. I don't see him as any kind of saviour. A nice player, sure, but not a guy that'll help out the top 6.

We do need a pure goal scorer. There has been a lot of focus on good 2-way players in recent drafts (which is always needed), but we really need a trigger man. In this year's draft, a guy like Tippett is the best pure scorer, but he will be long gone by the time we pick. There should be a few guys who can put the puck in the net by the time our 2nd rolls around, though - Anderson-Dolan, Gadjovich, Robertson, etc.

Its a shame Wiese didn't show that this year. I honestly thought that his signing was to help address this teams lack in that department.
