No comment about Bartkowski and Engelland being on the list of worst pairings?

Ferland is second on the team with 1.13 goals per 60 minutes, yet he seems to be the first off the ice every shift of the top line. Last night one goal one assist with the second lowest TOI for the entire team. When are they going to take the wraps off this guy? On the other hand he should be well rested for the playoffs.

He still has a long way to go defensively. Perhaps it was Coaching that has him getting off the ice before they get hemmed in on the defenssive end. Interesting observation though. Will think on that.

Looked like Brouwer's best game as a Flame last night. Nice to see him heating up recently. Sucks to see so much Brouwer hate this year.

Because until (more recently) he really hasn't lived up to the expectation of the contract, let alone the reputation. Blues fans said wait till the playoffs...

The offensive production has been underwhelming. Can't help but think Brouwer has been a big influence on preparation and treatment of games. That's entirely conjecture though.

I think the Brouwer haters need to get over the contract/lousy corsi and start enjoying a winning team with a very solid leadership group.

Also, he's heating up down the stretch. Just like Blues fans and a few choice Flames fans on here called. Four goals in three games currently.

Based on these players usage it's almost as if the Flames are trying to increase Brouwer's value while simultaneously keeping Ferland's value low.

I was kinda hoping that he'd heat up in March and be a big part of the stretch drive. Never really happened, the criticism he has received is justified.

He's playing a little better as of late, but he is also being spoon fed PP minutes (taking a spot that should rightfully belong to Ferland). At this point I don't even think it'll matter to me what he does in the playoffs.

We aren't paying him to "maybe" show up after the regular season is finished. If he wants to be a part of this team then he needs to be a nightly contributor for us.

Its obviously working well for him, and maybe its because his stamina isn't as high as the other guys. He does hit alot and crash the net, it can take alot out of the big kid.

Really though, on the PP Brouwer and Ferland are pretty much equal. They have the same job (go to the net, get in the corners, get a screen and try and get a stick on a loose puck).

It's just kind of a slap in the face when you have your PP time taken by a player that you are clearly outperforming in every facet of the game. So, all things being equal, it isn't entirely unimaginable for the Flames to have an ulterior motive for playing Brouwer on the PP over Ferly.

Good observation Sram! Might want to keep him fresh. Ferland is fast enough to keep up with the JG/SM, Brouwer not really.

Man, a lot of Canuck hate on EK's thread yesterday.

Surprised how many Leaf fans say they like the Flames as their second team.

Perhaps it is a "She's All That" scenario where Gultzan accepted a bet entailing that he has one year to put an offensive "zero" onto the powerplay in order to prove.. I don't know what those popular kids were trying to prove. That she can't be hot?

I'd say it's not as surprising really

What reason do they have to hate the flames ?

Sens and habs are regional/ historical rivals
Winnipeg has the laine vs Mathews rivalry
Edmonton has the who tanks better rivalry
Vancouver has the west coast/east coast bias / superiority complex

I hate the media that covers the leafs more. The leafs as a team is pretty exciting tho.

This x infinity.

I live abroad and get my sports news from Sportsnet rather than TSN. But even sports net is full of crap. I don't give 2 poops about the Jays or Raptors. Not sure why they try and shovel that poop down my throat.

Gotta remember that Brouwer is a RH shot which is more useful on the power play than you'd think. Especially when the other two forwards (monny and Johnny) are LH

Always new ferland had a higher level of hockey in him, again when I mentioned that they should play him on a top six role,it was met with laughter and ya what ever, but this guy is going to shine in the playoffs, imho he's going to be one of those players that elevate their game this time of year! Good luck guys with the rest of the season and hopefully a deep playoff run

Actually it's been that way for as long as I can remember! One thing is that Gretzky wasn't liked, when with Edmonton and then hated more with the kings!lol
