Carol Schram: Brock Boeser scores game-winning goal in NHL debut with Vancouver Canucks The Vancouver Canucks moved swiftly to sign their 2015 first-round draft pick Brock Boeser after his team was eliminated from the NCAA tournament and the move paid immediate dividends. Boeser scored the game-winning goal in his NHL debut against his hometown Minnesota Wild on Saturday.

Jets are a strange team in that they have loads of talent but they can't put it all together.

I dont know if its the defensive system they play or if their dmen are just super overrated.

I see them walking away from this draft with valimaki. They really need to add dmen, maybe we can push them to take edler

Net is the biggest problem indeed & i'm not impressed with their D.
Watching games they make too many questionable plays or poor coverage.

From the previous blog...

Thats the type of trade you make in 2/3 years when the team is trending in the right direction and you need to fill a hole using a position you have depth at. No point in adding a center when giving up our best dman your going to be just as bad next season if not worse.

At this time duchene isnt getting us in to the playoffs and who knows what position we will be lacking in 2/3 years. Could have a log jam at center and be desperate for dmen.

Stay the course keep adding to the prospect pool and in a few years when trending up then look to make the big trade to get you over the hump if need be.

Hard to argue that Duchene is needed now & what that cost would be. Other side of the coin is timing & how often a speedy skilled top 2 C can be had. Trade for hm or not we should be in there making a play for him. His age suits us fine & i simply luv his wheels.

Yes, hope and optimism. How novel.

IMO trading for Duchene would cost you a first round pick, something rebuilding teams don't do. Thus it'll never happen.

Prolly so & where the difficulty lies for me.
Conditional picks is always a ploy.

So what is the package and conditions?

Because Duchene is in play & the Av's get a high pick eg say NICO.
Having MacKinnon already their needs r D Goalchie & winger depth.

Thats where i begin my thoughts on what deal the AV's entertain along with the asking price they apparently r seeking.

No package, draft our own center.

BPA when they pick, any position. Considering they'll probably pick 3rd or later, and Patrick and Nico will be gone,

I'm okay with that too, I trust Bennings decision making. The only thing I'd like to see is a Canadian or American kid taken. Someone willing to do anything to win. Tippet / Glass / Foote / Middlestadt. We have a good amount of Euros with Sven / Granlund / Juolevi / Tram / Goldobin and Dahlen. Can never have too much heart and soul.

Where do you see the depth in that position?

Tank talk on next season c'mon give it a rest.
Breeding losing is simply silly.

They'll be equally as bad next year, hopefully Benning can add more picks. As for this year, I hope they're lucky enough to get a Mark Scheifele, Jets got him at 7 and he's probably the best center taken that year. Kids are legit number 1 center!

There are a lot of moving pieces in this transition. The one thing JB will probably now stay away from trading any of the high profile Nuck young players under 23. Unless one is coming back. Like Subban may be moved for a young forward with size and speed.

And you think drafting Vilardi or Middlestadt who will be ready to play in the NHL in 2019 and be an impact third line player in 2021 will help NEXT YEARS ROSTER

I think most of us here have conceded that we will suck next year , maybe time for you?
