Serious note, when/if the team is healthy, what do the dmen pairings look like? Who do you leave out? 58-8, 6-56, 4-28? Does Maatta sit? I think a lot of these guys sitting will be a bonus come playoff time, fresh legs will be nice.
I would love to see some rest for the regulars towards the end, if the top spot is out of the equation. |

Maatta-Daley has been an abysmal pairing this season, and Dumoulin-Schultz seems to be getting solid experience together and could be a good second pairing. I'd try this:
Maatta-Letang
Dumoulin-Shultz
Cole-Daley/Streight/Hainsey
Daley's been awful and I think his lack of chemistry with Maatta is a big reason why Maatta has struggled. There is real concern with playing Maatta first pairing due to his first step issues, but Letang is so good he can cover that up and Maatta-Letang have always played well together. The bottom pairing can be whoever earns it, but I think Cole is a lock there. I really wouldn't mind never seeing Daley play again in a Pens' sweater. Moving Cole to the right side and playing Streight on his left could replicate the Cole-Schultz dynamic. |

Lets put some prospective in here.
If Melnyk wasn't going on & on & on about Sid, I wouldn't know who the (frank) he was!
In fact, if I tripped over the bloke today I STILL wouldn't know who he is! |

having the extra home game is always nice, but the Penguins path to the Cup will still be brutal thanks to the NHL's horrible playoff format -- two of the three best teams in the league will be eliminated before the conference finals. and then you have the Rangers, who have an incentive to lose games to maintain their position in the first wild card spot. there's no good reason that the fourth best team in the conference should have an easier path to the finals than the best team in that same conference. as if one needed another reason to hate the Rangers |

An argument could be made for starting 7 D and double shifting some guys to balance out lines. |

I think the Penguins value everyone being "Fresh" for the playoffs over any "Home Ice" advantage situation
Remember, these guys played a lot of hockey last year....
Having guys, especially Malkin, and Letang coming in off a few weeks vacation/healing/etc will probably give more of a boost than getting to play in your own building for an extra game, assuming a series even goes 7

Wow for a second i thought i read that Sheary was injured again. I read wrong. Thank god.
Great news that Guentzel seems to be improving. He's my favorite of all your young talents.
Really pisses me off that multiple entertaining, exciting, skilled young players for your team that play the game the right way have been taken out of the game via hard hitting BS from the opposition. The league needs to get rid of the garbage and maximize the amount of (healthy)entertaining talents on the ice.
Hope your team is back to 100% ASAP. |

I don't think Daley gets back in this lineup unless there's other injuries again, so I guess that could be likely lol.
I don't see Maatta/Letang, at least not in the beginning. Guessing by who is healthy first...
Dumoulin/Letang
Cole/Schultz
Maatta/Hainsey
Streit
I think people forget Maatta was in the doghouse before his injury and was playing the 3rd pair. |

So... what you're saying is that he's a tremendous GM? He knows more about hockey than anyone?
He's going to make the NHL great again?!?!? |

I'll be stunned if we have 6 out of our top 8 D healthy when the playoffs start. It would be nice to pick and choose who plays because of performance for a change.
It's interesting Daley is skating again. Most people were predicting he wouldn't be ready for the start of the playoffs. |

I think they're just holding some of these guys out as long as possible to keep them fresh and ready. I think everyone except Daley will be ready to go. We have to expect some rust though. |

Now, that Wilson is back someone has to come out. It would have happened last game with Rust's return, but Wilson came out.
I mean, it comes down to him or Rowney and I think the fact Rowney plays center more, he give the Pens some more looks.

I'm hoping Letang can get 2 or 3 games before the post-season. I don't understand how Malkin's blocked shot could result in so many missed games. I saw them a few times taping his wrist on the bench, I wonder if that's really the problem? |

Wasn't a huge fan of picking up Streit, an older player and a Flyer, but he's really played well enough to play over Hainsy and Daley if all were healthy. |

On another note look how good WBS' D is going to be when the big team is healthy and they have Jeff Taylor fresh from college as well. |
