could be the first serious bit of injury related adversity to hit the team this season....

Not great timing, but not the worst timing either. Can't see him being out for the season. The backup is good enough to get a few wins in the mean time.

tough set of games coming up though against some formidable opposition including these same Sabres... if toronto falters a bit there are three teams making a push right behind them. it'll make for some interesting viewing, especially the Isles game...

Pretty bad.

It will depend on the results of the doctors checking out Andersen. If he's just missing a game or two then you suffer through it with McElhinney and probably Sparks. If not though....have to consider more extreme options.

I'm sure Eklund would love the option of the Leafs going emergency goalie hunting. The only limitation there is you can't use that guy in the playoffs. But that hardly matters if you don't make the playoffs anyways. Might have to find a team out of it and make a trade. A few pending UFA goalies that might fit the bill.

Nothing to do though until they find out how Andersen is. But, I'm not sure running with McElhinney for the remainder of the season is a realistic option if they want to maintain that playoff position.

From the look of the video the Sabers player, whoever it was, I think Kane, took full advantage of the shove from behind and used it to almost break his stick across Anderson's neck.

Reminds me of the times the Leafs got f'd over by non-calls on concussions from hits to the head on our goalies.

Sadly, all players are well-schooled in the art of falling onto he goalie when hit into / close to them.

Let's just hope it was concussion protocol and nothing more, and we see him back for next game.

Ouch, I was wrong about the Leafs. They look like the prototypical one off lightning in a bottle playoff team. Smoke and mirrors.

Not sure if Disco will be the Sabres coach next year, but he absolutely, without a doubt, goes without saying, owns Babs.

Ahahahahaha, Wipeout!

Just wait till they play Pitt on the 8th and Crosby chops Mathews hand off.

Andersen left the game because he was afraid of Lehner losing his mind, skating the length of the ice and killing him.

Buffalo defence looked way better without Ristolainen in the line-up. Good thing that head-hunter wasn't out there... between him and Lehner the Leafs would have all been clamoring to get off the ice.

and can someone do Eichel a favor and get him some acne cream or lotion? geez you guys roll this guy out for interviews looking like that... can't the medical staff mix up some concoction ... that doesn't negatively interact with the steriods?

Leafs have been tanking all year... that's why they have been playing Andersen, who some would say is "not even as good a Bernier or Reimer"....

that's why they have been playing 8-9 rookies

that's why they went and got Smith

that's why Marincin's still on the roster

that's why Marner - who's clearly too small to play in the NHL - is still on the roster

TRADE THEM ALL!

Curiosity Questions

1) Hatboro - is that one of the towns where most of the folks are not employed because the coal mines are dead/dying, the folks used to work at Kodak or they used to make steel (you know when they need a ton of steel to make each horribly ugly oversized bloated American car)?

2) is that the same place where most people voted for a guy who promised to bring back "great" jobs... that would have them back in the coal mines without health insurance?

3) is that the same place where the now unemployed coal mines/steel workers etc... want their kids to go back into the coal mines - you know where the working conditions are just awesome

4) is that the same place where the reporters said the Sabres rebuild is years ahead of the Leafs? (it should be btw)

5) are they still bitter at Babcock for not chosing to live in that location?

just curious...

The avalanche are so bad. So much worse than we were last season. How can they have 20 less points than the second worst team. Unreal bad.
