It's not an uncommon problem, although I don't believe it. I think.

Still over rating duclair! His year is actually exactly what it should have been last year. Roughly 10 goals. His feet and his hands are like lightning, but his vision is not. Because of that, I want to keep him and hope the vision develops. But he is a 3rd line winger until that vision develops. His Corsi last year was in a sheltered role, with veteran line mates. His shot percentage was ridiculous and unsustainable. He rode shotgun with domi and Dvorak last night and did not add much of anything to the line.
If only there was a GM in the NHL that overvalued him like you do!! Then the coyotes could cash in. Benning? Murray? |

Yeah they really sheltered him last year, on the top line of a horrible team whit no other lines to worry about!
No offense, but this is a terrible scouting report - it seems like you made it up.
Last year, he was actually the driver of the line, giving both Domi and Hanzal CF bumps compared to when he wasn't on with them.
I don't know how people are so down on this guy: if a 3rd round pick makes the NHL by 20 and is defensively responsible enough to drive possession playing with a player as defensively terrible as Max Domi (the Ristolainen of forwards) then you should be pumped.
Especially since he is gritty as hell. He's a 20+ goal scoring powerforward who skates fast and can play defense. Writing this guy off after a bad season with clear reasons for his drop off is insane.
The Coyotes are not looking to trade him, and if they were, during a rebuild, they'd be idiots. Why get rid of a high ceiling player at his lowest value ? |

Duclair cannot generate his own chances, for whatever reason he simply doesnt shoot enough. He has demonstrated that he can score if someone else sets him up though. If the Coyotes want him to score he needs to play with talented linemates. Otherwise he is simply not going to be a factor in the offense. It kind of dumb that a team as bad as the yotes wouldnt maximize his usefullness and keep him on the top line. It also helps the playmakers if they have someone to setup that can actually finish the play. It is bad coaching to play him with scrubs, especially if there are no better options for the top line. |

Tanner,
Agree it was great to see Duclair back with Domi. They have great chemistry and just make things happen. Hopefully Tip keeps them together.
The current run has been good but actually the Yotes are over .500 in 2017. After the last few years of utter crap the record in 2017 is making next year look pretty good. Especial as it is the young kids playing. the rookies have made improvement this year.
I am hoping they can sign Keller and we can throw him out there for a few games this year to see what he can do.
Seeing Doan hurt sucks as a long time Yotes fan, but he is slow this year and it is opening up, time for more young ids to play. Doan really just needs to suit up for the last game of the year to be honest. |

?? Domi and Duclair did not play a ton together last year. I think you even wrote a blog on how dumb it was that they didn't play together more. Duclair did not play on the top line last year. He was given a ton of offensive zone starts, had veteran, responsible line mates, and shot at a 20% clip. Again I am not "down" on him, but for a year now you have been touting him as a top line 30 goal, defensively responsible all star winger. That is just ridiculous. Am I glad we have him? YES! Do I think he's drastically over achieved his draft position? YES! Do I want to get rid of him? NO, unless the other GM is overvaluing him like you, and pays us as if he is a 30 goal top line winger (which I don't think any GM would do). He's destined to put up 10-15 goals which is great...we need that. And maybe (statistically unlikely, but possible) he grows in to something even more which I would welcome. But that would be an exceptional case.

Domi was moved around a lot last year. Hanzal was the most used centre for both Domi and Duclair, and the two D's spent 1/3 of their icetime together.
Especially after January. |

Playing Keller this year would be dumb, this would burn a year on his ELC.
Might as well wait. |

They can play him 9 games without burning anything off his ELC, and if his junior team is not in playoff contention, why not give him a cup of coffee? |

I saw Duclair play here in San Diego a month or two ago. It was a joke. He was clearly the most talented guy on the ice. It wasn't close. The Gulls spent the night clogging him up. His linemates couldn't keep up. What a waste of a season for Duclair. |

I don't see how that's is a rebuttal to everything I said?? 1/3 of the year is not the majority, like I pointed out. Last year I said he wasn't an a top line winger, even while he was scoring. I'll say the same thing now, and next year at this point when he score so his 14th goal I'll say the same thing again. |
