Condolences to the Parvin family.

Having traveled through work and the military with a wife and kids at home i get what you're saying about missing home then missing those you were abroad with. Traveling can build some bonds and make you miss those you already had that's for sure.

Bill,

For all the talk on Flyers prospects, seems like I never hear Madsen's name. Do the Flyers see him as a legitimate prospect? He's finishing his junior year and playing well in the same conference that Lyon played last year.

He is a prospect in the same tradition as the Flyers' past Harvard goalies in the system (Grumet-Morris, Israel, Tracy). All played pro, and Grumet-Morris in particular proved to be a fine AHL goalie, but none played in the NHL. I see Merrick along similar lines but hope he proves me wrong.

Bill,

It seems lately lyons is the phantoms starting goaltender. What does that mean if mason is injured for call ups? Also how does that shape up for the nhl next year. Is stolarz really capable of nhl back up when he's ahl back up? Is lyons ready ?

Thanks for the updates Bill. Surprised Carcillo/Emery weren't involved with the 50th anniversary alumni game but are attending this one in Reading. Great to see the alumni group being active with these games though

I was at the first alumni game and it was a packed house at WFC. I sure hope Santander Arena can support a large crowd.

I was also at the game at WFC this season as well as the Alumni game in Reading last year. Packed house full of orange was a cool experience! Smaller arena almost makes it feel more personal of an event

I have made it know that i am not the biggest fan of Hakstol.

I just don't feel like he is getting the most out of his roster.

HOWEVER

Coach Hakstol made a visit to my son's hockey practice this morning at the Voorhees skate zone, the Flyers practice facility. My son plays on a special needs youth Flyers hockey team.

He took time out of his morning to visit the locker room and take pictures with each of the kids and the parents.

He then spent 40 minutes on the ice with the kids instructing them, talking to them, assisting them, even taking part in passing the puck during some of the drills.

Hakstol was total CLASS. He spoke with the kids and the parents. Answered questions and was just a down to earth good guy.

Thank you Mr.Hakstol, the smile and joy you brought to the kids faces was priceless and something i will never, ever forget.

I've been looking over our prospect list and outside of the obvious dmen it's pretty depressing

Goaltending is promising between Stoli, Lyon and Hart. I still like Leier and Labarge should be decent hopefully. Laughton could still turn into something useful as well. Konecny and Labarge aside they've gone so long without drafting high skill forwards. This is the trade-off when you draft so D heavy over the last few years. I'm hoping this upcoming draft evens things out a bit.

I've written off Laughton. If Couturier hasn't developed into anything amazing nothing will come out of Laughton

Can't say I agree. Lindblom, Hart, Sandstrom, Rubtsov, Laberge, Allison and Vorobyov are all pretty solid to very good prospects and I'm pretty sure they will be able to land another good one (hopefully a center) with a likely top 10 pick in the upcoming draft.

Add that to current Flyers Provorov and Konecny who are only just turned 20 and I'd say that they are in pretty decent shape when it comes to the prospect pipeline.

I'm not writing him off completely. I can see him developing into a Raffl type player. He's never going to be a legit top 6 guy but I can certainly see him being an effective 3rd liner in some capacity for us or another club.

I really want them to figure out a way to come out of this draft with two strong top 6 prospects. They definitely need a center with some serious offensive upside and then either a LW or even another center. If Hextall can find a way to move up to the late 1st for Bowers or Suzuki I'll be absolutely thrilled.

Rubtsov and Lindblom both have top six NHL forward upside. A few others, such as Vorobyov, have top nine upside.

Not sure how to feel.
