The scoreboard will fall on him the minute he hits the ice at PPG.

I'm always curious to put a signing like this in terms of actual draft pick value. If we would trade him what would another team be willing to pay for him? A 1st round pick? A 3rd round pick (talk of being bottom 6). With a 4 year college kid I'd assume he has less potential of drafting a 18 year old (who might suddenly learn to skate or have a late growth spurt etc), but also lower risks. He probably is fairly close to be able to contribute in a bottom 6 role.

I think talk on vesey last year was he was definitely worth a 1st and probably like a top 15 pick. Being that he has 14 goals this year that seems about right.

I have only seen him play twice and the thing that impressed me was his relentless pursuit of the puck and his relentless going to the net with the puck as much as possible. He has no fear ad for his size it was remarkable to me. Pretty good finisher in tight.

Rutherford compared him to Hornqvist in Yohe's piece. I like that.

He scores most his goals within 6' of the net from what I have seen and read. Loves to go to the net. Hard to not like a guy like that really.

I would offer a 2024 4th round pick.

Lets see... hype is a big thing. And he is the #1 NCAA signing this year. Most teams would have likely given up a 1st rounder (mid to late that is) for Haines or Vesey. I don't see why Reese should be no different.

Bonus note from last night... Edmonton with 7 goals... McJesus with only 1 point. Crosby and Malkin still in the hunt

Reese seems below vesey in hype and scout opinion. But a late 1st would still agree with that especially in a weak draft class.

We need to replenish our young forward depth as bonino is UFA, some guys are due raises, and theres a good chance we lose a quality piece to the expansion draft (rust, horn, hagelin, seem most likely to me).

Vanek absolutely should have gotten a 1st. Holland is just bad at his job.

I spoke to GMJR. He said that he'd give you a first round pick if you quit posting here.

Nice pickup. Sounds like a young Chris Kunitz type player to me.

This is a great thing for a Stanley Cup contender. It is like acquiring an extra first round pick for nothing. There is no guarantee of success in the NHL, but the probability of success is higher.

I'm a little confused by this, yes it's a great signing for the Pens but what makes the probability for success higher and higher than what?

The "1st round talent" makes the probability for success higher.

If he has 1st round talent why wasn't he drafted in the 1st round when he was eligible as opposed to going undrafted? And what is it higher than? Is it higher than an actual 1st round pick, a 3rd round pick? There has to be something to compare it to for it to be higher than something.

I don't know. Sestito is suspended so we take a major hit by not having a deterrent on the roster.
