I feel if we can get one of Nolan, Hieschier, or Vilardi, and sign Auston-Reid - we may not have to pull an Edmonton and go for last place for the next 15 years.

Thanks Carol!

I do like seeing the updated list of tandem-in-on-a-goal. I would like the Sedin's catch Gretzky/Kurri, but itll probably take another 2-3 seasons given how sharply their production has fallen. 60ish more combine goals to go

Signing Brock to play a few games for the Canucks at the end of year would be a feel good story, give us something to talk about.

I see it happening.

If we can 'win' the lotto and draft/sign a bunch of good players, we will be better.

What is the advantage and why to burn a year of Boeser's 3 years ELC?

Sadly I see it happening too, like drafting the hometown kid was a feel good story

You have to think with the teams listed in pursuit of Aston-Reese, the Canucks would have the most to offer a young prospect looking for the best opportunity for ice time. Tough to crack the line-up in PITT, ANA, EDM & STL. Maybe Edmonton.

So I was thinking about the expansion draft. Because Vegas has a 48 hour window to sign any unprotected pending free agent on any team before the draft, which in turn would become their expansion pick from that team, I wonder how that will play out with Miller.

If we don't sign him, and considering the way he is playing, I can definitely see Vegas picking Miller ahead of Sbisa. Plus the city is close enough to L.A., that Miller might agree to that.

I've thought the same, especially if they want to take someone like Malcom Subban/Binnington in a long term option

3 solid NHL seasons would garnish a bigger payday than 2 solid seasons would.

If Fleury and Bishop get traded before expansion draft to teams that can protect them then it does become a good bet Vegas takes Miller.

Might be the best thing for the Nucks if Vegas actually claims him. No loss of players like Guance, Sbisa maybe Boucher. No goalie controversy of multi-year contract to aging Miller. Marky gets the nod to be the man. Maybe a UFA vet gets brought in for a year for support.

I agree, this could be a very good thing. I was reading somewhere, that Vegas is anticipated to have about 10 free agents as picks out of there 30.

Yes there has been talk. The UFA class looks weak. So Vegas will be going after Oshie hard as face of franchise. Good American high profile forward. They may think Miller the same who's ranked up there in the same class. Miller has got same American cache and would be another good face promo fit for tickets. Plus actress wife helps with the glamor that Vegas would like to sell for locals and tourists.

For Miller it's a short hop plane ride or even drive to LA. Much better then Vancouver. Even his wife could do some work there for appearances at shows and so forth that would help her more then what she did in Vancouver. So if Vegas wants him he likely would take it. Plus they would offer a multi year deal and starter option.

This could very well happen. After listening to Miller's frustration last night, I am pretty sure he would rather play for a stronger team than he currently plays for & a Vegas, on paper already looks better than our roster.

Edit: this was in response to healthy scratch comment about Miller signing in Vegas.

I know we like to underestimate the value of Nuck players as the Burr and Hansen trades showed.

But Vegas is getting a lot of breaks and will have have a decent roster that will compete and could be a bubble hopeful. They could even easily get 1OA and decent picks through all rounds and make some trades with extra expansion picked players.

So they will be right there with Nucks, Yotes, Avs and other struggling teams. If they get a good coach. Well look out.

Are you saying worse then the Avs this season?

They will be in the running of other bottom struggling teams trying to be bubble hopefuls. Not sure with all their breaks that they will be the League doormat.
