Might as well tank for the Draft now. Trust the Process. |

Trade simmonds. Get two top 10 picks. Move forward |

Flyers had 11+ minutes more on the PP and still were outshot and lost the game.
Special teams are now atrocious on top of everything else. Same old crap. |

I get where you're coming from... but if I had to trade one, I'd say trade G and give Simmonds the "C"... build around him. |

I love Simmonds but he is not a talent that you build around. Giving him the "C" is fine if that's what they want to do. Making him the center piece of the franchise is not a good idea. |

You can give Simmonds that's "C" without build around him. |

They got their shots and chances on the pp. if anything it's just more confirmation (like we needed it) to how awful they are at even strength.

Bill, nice summary, and thanks for pointing out the screen ... somehow no one ever thinks Mason is screened.
Because of the increased PP and PK issues, do you see the a re-evaluation of the assistant coaching staff? It just feels like the PP has gotten stale and the PK is just completely out of whack.

I hope so. The PK specifically is an issue. The "passive" approach does not work. The PP just needs to switch up some of the plays. Very predictable. |

maybe just maybe the hockey gods will bless us with the Patrick Kane caliber player we deserved in 2008. |

Hakstol said he didn't think the PK needed any personnel changes. It has allowed 7 goals in last 15 PPs
This can't be true can it? |

Of course it doesn't. CV primary "role" is PK. He should not be on any team in the NHL.
Some of those PK goals were less than 30 seconds into the powerplay. |

I mentioned in the other thread Simmonds to Winnipeg for Kyle Conner and Winnipeg's 1st. I think that's a pretty solid trade. Most bottom feeders aren't going to get that that much better adding Simmonds tbh. |

What's the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. The fact Hakstol isn't trying to do something to improve this PK and he's running the same players out there time after time is absurd. |

Woof. I don't think Wayne gets that. He'd get one of those pieces plus some other compensation but not both imo. |

Im growing frustrated. Filpulla can pk. So why can't they try a bellemare-cousins-lyubimov line |

So true. I will admit he is not the only player that sucks at PK. However, his roster spot is the easiest to adjust. I do not want to see him play ahead of players that will be here next year. IE Cousins, Lyubimov, any AHL player.
I also understand sitting him will not fix all of this team's issues. Save the keystrokes. |

Connor went 17th overall and this is considered a weak draft. Maybe it's asking a little much but I don't think it's too far off. I'm assuming the Jets pick is outside the top 10 as well. |

I really get annoyed when people defend Bellemare. Overpaying 4th line players with no skill is bad business. It just makes zero sense. Pointless now in 23 straight games. And a cog in a non competitive PK. |
