They should, but they won't, and I'm sure that's exactly how the sens want it.

Why ?

Good team, not a great one...so no

I sont see them compete with Pits/wash or even Colombus in the playoff...

Even behind MTL for only one reason Carey Price

They should, but I'm happy they aren't.

You cant help but think that it is a motivator for the team, that the league doesn't give them more respect.

This 3 game series against the Habs will be awesome! The rivalry is already strong, but I cant imagine what the dislike for each will be like by the 3rd game

I'm not so sure other teams should be taking us seriously as a cup contender. I think we could make it a round or two in the playoffs but that's it right now.

We're a good team but not a great team.

I've been saying for a long time, we are a #1C and #2LW away from being a contender.

I didn't like the Burrows trade at first but given how well he's done, I'm warming up to it. Although I was watching replays of Jonathan Dahlen a few nights ago and he looks like he could turn out to be a very good player.

Time will tell though

Penguins scare me but they are the best team in the east so they should. Washington we can beat but a 7 game series would be tough. But Columbus we have had our way with this year.

Other than the last 4-5 games Washington has been the best team in the league. I still think the are the team to beat.

Pens we can beat if we play our game, Blue Jackets we've had a tough time with and Montreal... same thing.

I think we can go a few rounds

No teams in the Atlantic - including the habs - are scary...
we can only face 1 of Washington or Pittsburgh so yeah it would be tough against one of them if we get to meet one of them, it'll be in the Conference Finals so anything can happen!
I'd be VERY happy to meet Columbus instead as I don't see them as a threat at all...

Ottawa is 2-0 vs Habs and 2-1 vs CBJ......not sure how you figure we have a hard time against them

Ottawa is .500 or better against every playoff team in the eastop except the caps. Only teams in the east I'd be worried to play are Pitt and wash

No, I hope it stays like that. If we get out of Atlantic and meet Metro in the playoff, I have a good feeling about this. The Metro teams will kill each other and the survivor will likely be leaping to the Eastern Final

If Ottawa can get through this injury stretch and maintain a decent playoff standing, then yes - teams should be taking more notice, particularly in their division. Honestly, when you're in one of the weaker divisions you only really have to worry about other divisions once you're in the Conference Finals - which would be a tremendous achievement for this team in itself.

Any team reaching the second round would play the top seed remaining in their Division. If the playoffs started today it would be Ott/Bos and Mon/NYR in the first round and the winners would face each other in the second round.

Edit: fixed.

No reseeds. Depends on if the Sens or Habs win the Atlantic.

It'd be Montreal-Rangers. Leafs would play the Caps.

Oops my bad, yes you're right - top seed in the Conference plays the 2nd Wild Card.

Winner of Ott/Bos would face the winner of Mon/NYR. Rangers will be tough for anyone of course, but the main thing is no-one has to deal with the Pens or Caps until the Conference final.

Ottawa could make final with this format
