How lucky are the Pens to win a 30 team lottery with Sid and the year before TWO generational talents were available for them during their tank....sometimes life just isn't fair!!

Still, 2 stanley cups is 2 more than most fan bases get to experience in a generation.

REgardless how smart your GM is, it takes a remendous amount of luck to put a team together that is capable of winning the Cup, and even more to actually do it.

For some reason fans take being called ' lucky' as a strike against their team.

I don't think he's denying luck plays a huge role. It's obviously a big component. Just like you guys winning the McJesus lottery.

not taking it as a strike against the team. the pens have been very lucky (and that is undeniable) but they have also been extremly unlucky going back all the way to marios time with his health problems and now sid and genos.

So... when they had the worst record on Malkin's year... they did not get the #1 pick, but hte #2, Malkin... yeah, lucky I guess.

Don't see you female doging to Buffalo for getting Echiel that season instead of McDavid... or you female doging at Edmonton for their 5 #1 in 8 years.

But how dare a team with the worst record get the #1 pick, which the odds favor them to do. Oh the flipping humanity for the odds to be correct in what "should" happen some years.

Quite true... but Edmonton was 3rd that season and jumped to 1st... I don't recall that many conspiracy theories... not counting Tanner, who had the "anti-theory" stuff going. I recall his logic that because he would have saved Arizona, it'd have been too obvious to allow them to get him... something like that

Well Gino has owned the Canucks life time so let's see how it goes tonight. Another depleted line up on a team that has plenty of challenges as it is so have fun playing AHL hockey.

Let's hope complacency doesn't rear its ugly head tonite. Any team can beat any team in this 'parity' league (the zebs make sure of that ).

As for Geno being a monster this year, the man is 'score' just ask him!

Not so sure about this season being a difficult season to score in, I think (HB research), that this season is up quite considerably on scoring from previous seasons, we have 4 maybe 5 guys that might reach high nineties to 100 points - how long has it been to see that?

Letssssss goooooooooo Pennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnisssssssssssszzzzzzzzzzzzz

Maybe some people don't believe in luck? Instead in probabilities, and not random chance happenings.

I put together a point prediction algorithm that takes into account the last 3 years of games played. Malkin is actually projected not to get any points for the remainder of the season, so the charts won't look as good when all is said and done.

Yep. Every team that has found success has been lucky in some way, and been fortunate enough to have minimal bad luck. Show my a successful team since 1980 that did it on pure genius alone.

Can't happen soon enough. He's such a big part of getting them out of the D zone. The Pens botched a bunch of exits last night.
