Didn't mind the new line, two points back, not out of the realm of possibilities that they get in.

Solid game for Philadelphia. That Ekblad SH was a thing of beauty. Kid can play. One of the best goals this year. Mason was solid. Flyers dominated a lot of the 1st but came away empty handed.

I thought you were an Islanders fan. I can't keep it straight!

Your boy RyRy Strome with a goal and assist, Islanders win. You better make up your mind quickly, lest you look like a band wagon fan.

It's hard. There are too many teams to choose from

That's parity for you. Just don't do what I did last year and die of dysentery on the bandwagon.

At this point I'm kind of expecting to hear that G is going to have some sort of surgery once the season is over. There were times when he looked like he had no interest carrying the puck and was just looking for the quickest pass.

This offseason will be quite interesting. I fully expect them to draft BPA wherever their pick ends up falling but I really think there's a case to be made that they also make a move with one of the D prospects for a young Center prospect with top 6 upside. Maybe a Barzal, Colin White, Eriksson Ek or Kyle Conner.

To me, it almost has to be done -- no organization's depth chart is perfect, but a scoring center has to be found. This is where GMs make their money -- they need the kind of forward that you have to take a risk to get

Yup. I mean it will be great if they take a Center in the first but I think they need to pick up a prospect that's a little further along too. The lack of skill center depth in the system is frightening. They have Rubstov and that's it really.

Realistically these big 4 D prospects all coming up at the same time aren't all going to be able to share the ice at the NHL level. Might as well address a glaring need by acquiring a similarly aged/skilled forward.

A young NHL defenseman with potential is worth a lot more than defense prospect in the AHL.

I just watched his goal. I'm just saying I'd be cool with it.

Remember when Andrew Ladd had like no goals?

Abso-(frank)ing-lutely.

This entire time we've been trying to fix a hodgepodge defense by adding top tier defensemen and assembling the best d prospect pool in the league (arguably). We can't bail now, before we even know what we have. One day, a few years from now, perhaps when we better know where our NHL defense stands, we can have that option, and their value would only rise if they hit -- but we're not there yet. The defense is still a mess, even with Provy and Ghost, and we don't know where we stand yet. Besides, the only defensemen that can be packaged for top tier forward talent are Sanheim and Myers -- and I am certainly not trading them, and few would probably. And they are more valuable than those forward prospect counterparts right now.

I'm referring to trading one of Sanhiem/Hagg/Morin/Myers for a center prospect. I'm not interested in trading Ghost or Provorov if that's what you're getting at.

Mat Barzal, Colin White, Joel Eriksson Ek, and Kyle Connor. That's who you listed.

Connor isn't a center. Ek and White? I don't see them as 1C types. I think they both could be really solid 2Cs. But we have a few of them. I don't see them as better than Rubtsov/Couturier. That isn't solving the issue at all. I've written many words about this, and like I've said, acquiring prospects with 1C potential is hard and doesn't really happen because they're rare and valuable, seldom traded, and often are quick to the NHL. And trading a d prospect is robbing Peter to pay Paul....and we'd lose the trades probably because Myers and Sanheim are worth more than all of these guys in value IMO. Morin and Hagg especially have nowhere near the value to acquire them.

I do sorta covet Barzal. I think he might have that type of upside, though some people are less sure. I still would not trade a top d prospect for the reasons I said in my other post. That said, in my mind, with the addition of Filppula, we have another short-term 40 point guy. Lindblom comes over next year. I see someone like Schenn, and I have thought before about trading him for Barzal+. Between those two, I think he can be replaced and then some next year, while the other prospects filter in, like Barzal. That would make sense to me. We could really help the long-term, while not affecting the short-term. But Hexy won't do it. I think he'll go into next year with all the same players+a couple prospects added in. Which maybe is a shame because a sneaky byproduct of adding Filppula as a stopgap is that he can make deals like this more feasible. They'll still likely be a bubble team next year, which means, in a way, Filppula could actually help the team's future more than merely improving a bubble team for 1 year.

If I'm Hextall I'm going to seriously consider packaging Giroux at the draft. His stock is only declining and his superstar cap hit that ranks him 11th in the league – paid out until 2022, is only going to get worse if he remains on his current trajectory. I don't want to take that risk of holding on to him and seeing if he can turn it around.

Flip is one of our top 3 forwards now. Lightning scrap heap

Abundantly clear who the 2C is between him and coots when you watch them on the ice. At least coots can be properly slotted
