I don't know much about their prospect pool, but as a fan of the sharks I am hoping they come out of the west. Really was upset last year, thought Thornton would get his cup. Anyways, I think they should pursue a good winger like Vanek. I don't think he would cost much, maybe a 2nd and a prospect? But would definitely add a good weapon on the 2nd pp unit and in the top 6 maybe slotting next to Thornton although I always liked hertl there.

It's a tough decision...do you take on another established player for pick(s) and/or prospects, then have to not protect him or another roster player for the expansion draft?

If the answer is yes & the player is Landeskog, then I could be convinced.
Donskoi & DeMelo will definitely be nice adds. In the end I would not be surprised if this is the yr he finally gets Shane Doan.

Please no short term rentals that are on their last leg.

Hansen would be a nice pickup for the Sharks, signed through next year at a great cap hit, and still playing as well as he ever has(not sure about the Sharks expansion draft situation though)

Vanek would be nice, but we don't the draft picks to make a move like that.....we don't have this years or next years 2nd or 3rd. Definitely not going to break the bank for a rental player like that in terms of prospects.

I don't think I said anything about the bank. Bottom line is the Sharks are the oldest team in the league, and here's a 24 yr. old captain mentioned as being available. The Sharks fan base won't ever wait through a few years of accumulating high picks, so you've got to add when & where you can. It would perhaps make more sense to do this over the summer, but the "window" is closing w/current vets.
