At least Bishop is no longer there! We can't beat our ex-goalies like Bishop & Lehner!

Just posted this to the previous thread, but will repeat part of it here...

It's pretty clear that there are players in the Swiss League that Boucher developed a strong respect for, and who he's willing to give NHL chances to now that he's back coaching in the NHL. Dorion seems to be willing to play along, so long as they can get Pyatt-like ROI on the deals.

The other interesting thing to note is that neither Pyatt or DiDomenico actually played for the Swiss teams that either Boucher or Crawford coached. However, if Boucher turned his attention to players on his old SC Bern team, we could potentially see ex-Senators like Conacher and Ebbett back in the fray at some point.

isn't Conacher back in Tampa? man, what a bad trade that was! Bishop for Conacher that eventually ended back in Tampa for free!

You're forgetting about the 4th round pick that became Tobias Lindberg... who along with a 2nd round pick and a trifecta of ridiculous dead-weight contracts magically turned into Dion Phaneuf.

That said, how teams like Calgary, Dallas, and Philadelphia missed out on Bishop is utterly beyond me, especially since they'd also have exclusive rights to negotiate a new long-term deal... apparently they really enjoy unstable goaltending situations.

Andrew Hammond has a torn labrum in his right hip and will need surgery. He will not play the rest of the season Expected 12 week recovery

yes, very surprised he landed in LA for so little with so many other teams "supposedly" needing goalie help...on our end, hopefully we can re-sign Condon after the draft...

Good! That way he's not taking time away from other goalies for the B-Sens...
He'll be exposed for the expansion draft so the Sens are compliant with the rules...
Then we re-sign Condon!

I think that's less interesting than the dideminico signing...........barring injury Hammond will never play an NHL game for Ottawa gain. he had his miracle run, made his money, take a hike.

Barely posted since Yost left but this site has become too unbearable. Sens blogs now are sub-par recaps of games that aren't even proofread (5 or 6 typos in this latest post at least). Just wanted to say thanks to the regular posters in the comments section who have kept sens talk going. I'm out. Enjoy the rest of the season and hopefully the playoffs, boys!

sorry but it's what have you done for me lately...it's a business! the guy is useless, never liked him and never wanted him re-signed... nothing to do about his personal life and being injured, just happy he's away from the team!

He was taking a valuable spot away from our developing goalies...unfortunately, he will still be under contract next year!

He should actually feel lucky he got a 3-year multi million dollar deal for 1/3 of season of play...

Nobody wishes the guy ill will but most should realize that the team is better now, and moving forward, without him

He got signed for a very cheap deal, and he did have an historic 1/3 of season

Look at his numbers last year. Not much different than Anderson's. .914 save percentage vs .916. Injuries and the refusal to play in the minors is what got to him. And likely the fact that he is an average goalie

If this wasn't a cheap team, his salary wouldn't matter at all

I don't care what he cost, even if the 1.5M he's making next year could go towards something with actual potential; it's more the roster spot that he takes that bothers me... the fact is, he's a mediocre goalie, his technical skills are atrocious and there's no upside whatsoever to keeping him. yes, historic 1/3 of a season, but that doesn't mean much... he never achieved anything at any level, just getting by all the time; doesn't really inspire any beliefs that he could turn it around again... not counting being injury prone! ...Jim Carrey had a historic full season and was never heard of again!

Andy is an average goalie one season and an above average the next, always been like that throughout his career (very weird but the stats prove it). And when it comes to playoffs, he's definitely a #1 goalie and I still believe we would've taken out the habs had he played the first 2 games instead of the atrocious performance by Hammond! I want Condon instead of Hammond...actually, I'll take almost any backup in the league before Hammond, even some goalies in the AHL!

The Hammond situation has always reminded me of Michael Leighton, who was the 3rd string goaltender that held the fort for the Flyers in the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals. He then got a 2yr/$3.1M one-way contract and played exactly 2 games for the Flyers after that point. The Senators were right to reward Hammond, and give him the chance to prove it wasn't just a fluke... but there's no question that they should be moving forward with Anderson & Condon.

Regardless, the guy I'm most interested in long-term at this point is Marcus Hogberg, who's quietly having a really strong year in the SEL (1.85GAA, .933sv%), and seems to be progressing every year. Hopefully the Hammond/Driedger/O'Connor logjam of mediocrity in Binghamton doesn't prevent him from getting a chance to bring him game to North America soon.

Burrows is a guy I specifically mentioned several times as someone we might hear about before the trade deadline is through... my guess is Lazar going the other way, given that they already put an extension in place.

I guess they just found their RW for Pageau... not a fun line to play against if Smith if flanking on the LW. Plus, Burrows at least knows what he's 'supposed' to do on a scoring line, and can play up to a 2nd line role in the short-term while Ryan is out.

Son of a b#%ch, it appears to be for Dahlen. I actually think Burrows could be a good fit, but objectively that's really not a good deal for Dorion.

I'm not liking either. Doesn't Dahlen have a lot more upside than Lazar? Maybe Vancouver wouldn't even take him
