OV is my favorite player, and i'd love him to score another 50 goal season and win the hart etc. But he's said multiple times that he is taking a different approach this year.

Saving himself for the playoffs and trying to win a cup. I fully expect a push to get to 50 goals because he is OV and you can't take the "need" to score out of a pure goal scorer like that but he wants a cup and he's doing it the BT way

I think he's saving himself. Smart. Maybe the coach is behind that also. Look at Karlsson. Guy Boucher drops his minutes ASAP when we lead in scoring. Yesterday vs Panthers, Ceci and Phaneuf had more minutes, that allows King K to rest and have more energy for important shift. Result: he was involved in all goals.

OV is a sleeping beast.

He's not a very good hockey player?

Ovechkin is seeing his lowest ATOI in his career this season.

Powerplay has been poope. You could probably add another 10 goals to his tally by this point in the season, if the PP resembled the success from last year.

Also, he relies heavily on others to make chances for him - OV does not drive the play these days.

Chemistry is definitely BS.

Like the best team in hockey suddenly sucks because they made a trade? If that makes me a troll then I'm a troll. I prefer to think of it as not being sucked into fake after-the-fact narratives.

Bad Chemistry is a post-facto excuse. It seems real because 15 teams that make the Playoffs and made a trade to improve at the deadline fail.

I don't discount that two players could play better together than the sum of their separate parts, so in that sense, sure I believe in chemistry.


But that the best team in the NHL is so fragile that trading a bottom of the roster player is going to screw them up? Get real/

Weird. Crosby and Kessel'so play together was described as lacking chemistry. Kessel ended up playing on the hottest line of the championship team that year. Without either of their highest paid players. Weird. What aa silly post-facto excuse to make a month into the season.
