No rentals. Rentals are for teams who can seriously compete for the cup. Anaheim wasted their pick (unless they can resign him)

When Patrick Eaves gets traded for a potential 1st round pick you know you should be staying the (frank) away from any and all rental players. This is a guy who's been waived twice and missed significant time with injuries in literally every season he's played.

No no no rentals. This is scary, or at least the first two bullet points

All in? He must be watching a different team then I am

This team is not a Matt Duchene away from being a contender.

Disadvantage - Saturday road game. Haven't won 1 since last year vs. Carolina.

Advantage - No Bob in goal tonight for Columbus.

I guess that evens out.

Whats really scary is that ledecky has given him the green light and that to me means hes not going anywhere. Garth will never leave, and if hes all in on duchene hes gonna get raped by sakic. Makes me nervous in that I DON'T WANT him giving up barzal or pulock. I'd accept hamonic, nelson, and a 1st.

Garth has supposedly had the "Green Light" (sources indicated) for the past 10 years. If he couldn't/wouldn't pull the trigger on Hamonic for Hall I don't see him giving up greater value than MD or GL are actually worth. Either player would definitely help the team but it's not like they are elite, proven clutch players like a Patrick Kane, Toews, Corey Perry, Getzlaf, etc... If Cappy had been fired before the season started and we were firmly in a playoff spot, maybe a different story but as they are still playoff "hopeful" I can't see them parting with 2 players and a 1st pick to get the deal done.

I don't see Snow trading anyone off of this roster. Him, the coach and the players are constantly talking about team chemistry. I can't see him messing with it in any major way during the season. If anything you'll see a Shane Prince type deal for a bottom six, depth forward, especially with Cizikas out for a month.

Hey. Jonathan Quick activated off of LTIR. We need a backup goalie. I'm sensing another need.....

I agree Cpt. If they can work out a deal around Hamonic and Nelson then fine. If not try again in the summer to see what big deals are available.

It is scary Upstate. I would only make deals around Hamonic and Nelson and the 1st. No Barzal and Pulock. I'd love for the Isles to make a splash during the deadline, but have no issue if we need to wait for the summer when hopefully the POHO is hired.

I can't wait till Duchene goes for a top 4 and a decent prospect to another team and we all lose our minds.

Then the excuses. I love the excuses. "There would have been a mutiny".

Hamonic has been hurt during all the winning, but the players would revolt if we traded him.

I find it hard to believe that professional athletes would revolt over a trade. They may not like it, but it's part of their job. Even if they didn't like seeing a friend going elsewhere I'm sure they would be happy if the team was better because of the trade. I think this issue is overblown.

This team would be just fine if Hamonic was traded. He is a nice player and good person, but he is not a difference maker that would upset the Isles players to the degree Garth thinks.

Bottom line if you can't trade a player because you think the team will revolt, then you shouldn't be a gm

Very good point.

The company I work for has been going through a series of layoffs and people leaving. The first two layoffs were no big deal because most of those people were dead weight. After that they started letting good knowledgeable people go because of salary. It meant friends leaving and a lot more work for the people that were still there. Then other good people left because of the ridiculous workload. It sucks, but that's life. Either suck it up and come to work or find another job. I am certain that 99.99% of the people at the company make far less than the NHL minimum salary.
