Flyers really do not have much coming up in the pipeline with top end talent in the forward position, and that is where the underlying issue is with this team. It is frustrating to see that Hextall wants to stick with his 20 year plan when we need to start adding to the area of weakness.

They won't be buyers, but they have assets to make a good hockey trade. IMO, they have the right defensive prospects to land a guy like duchene or landeskog. Then you trade streit and del zotto for whatever you get and they could be a competitive team in a couple years.

Can you see much of a return for your UFA's this week? Flyers scouting staff have been able to identify young forwards in the draft or deeper in some teams depth charts for a while now.

I cant see any first rounders, maybe a 2nd for couple players like Mason or Streit/MDZ but im not sure even they are worth that. Problem is this draft coming is not very good or deep from what scouts and media are saying. Flyers will likely finish in the middle of the pack compared to top ten.

Just looking at the last 10-15 years, the Flyers have some success with forwards deeper in the draft. It's been a while and staff changes , just wondering if that is still a strength of the organization.

Ek, when your a team that has an issue with the defense for as long as the Flyers have, you don't trade them, you keep them. They aren't in a position to trade any of them right now, because prospects are never a guarantee. If they're fortunate in the future that they develop and become NHL regulars, then they may be in a position to trade from a surplus to shore up a weakness at another position, but not now.

@buzzo 20 year plan is an over exaggeration. Forwards develop at lot faster than Dmen do. Flyers will sell and they will get talent in that pipeline. Flyers have a lot of young Dmen, more than they can have on a team. One will easily be dealt for a forward in the future when it is clearer which Dmen will be staying with the club. Ideally The Flyers should go out and get some FAs who can add some skill to the 3rd line. I am not convinced Couturier is ready for the 2nd line C either so maybe a short term FA there would be good. Flyers also lack a top line LW that can play with Giroux and Voracek or Simmonds. That will be harder to find and most likely has to come from within the organization.

I would also keep my mind open to trading Giroux. I hope that his issues are related to lack of talent to play with but he has been on a steady decline since his 93 point season. I cant help but worry. Voracek is really the only guy scoring 5 v 5

If Hainsey is worth a 2nd then Streit and MDZ should get back equal or greater value. Schultz maybe a late rd pick. Flyers probably wont get anything for any of their other garbage.

The Flyers have a substantial list of defensive prospect close to being ready to play in the NHL. I dont think all of them will make it, my guess is Hexy moves 1 or 2 of them for offensive prospects.

It also pains me to type this but moving Simmonds could get a serious package. There isnt a team in the league that wouldnt take a Wayne Simmonds type player.

So they are basically the same as Ottawa. Have most of the pieces in their prime, but aren't willing to actually commit to finishing the rebuild to be a cup contender

Yeah, all they have is a 20 year old who's 3rd in scoring in the SHL, an 18-year-old putting up 1.5 pts/game in the QMJHL, a 21-year-old AHL All Star, and Travis Konecny.

Can you Flyers fans post more terrible trade proposals where you land Drouin? Those were hysterical.

Hey Flyers fans, is Del Zotto any good? Would he make a decent pairing for Shea Weber?

Don't you have to see them play in the NHL successfully for you to be calling them,

"Young solid defenseman" ?

So far the moves Hextall has made aren't very spectacular. He did do good with the Pronger trade, and Grossmann , but flopped when he let Gagner walk, WHEN YOU CAN'T SCORE. So far in philly sports,ONE GM needs to do something positive and do the unthinkable, WIN, and not this constant "Rebuild" !
