Surely Quincey is worth about as much as Hainsey. He's younger, cheaper and only has 2 less assists on the season in 4 less games. |

This isn't exactly a complete revelation is it? When he was at the helm of a perennial cup contender he traded picks for rentals. Now he is selling UFAs for picks. |

We'll see what Ray can do but his trade record with NJ is pretty darn good.
A 2nd for Hainsey seems like a real good return. A 3rd plus (maybe) for Stone seems fair but there also might not be that much separation between a Pittsburg 2nd and a Calgary 3rd...
That Stempniak trade was just awesome... or brutal if you're Boston. |

Shero has a great track record of winning trades. His draft history isn't quite as impressive. But here's to hoping! |

No revelation at all. I think we all assume this is a GMs plan, but it doesn't always turn out to be true. As a rebuilding franchise it's good to see common sense prevail here. |

Todd Cordell: Ray Shero is at it again - Todd.Cordell
However, I still wish he would have moved Schlemko last year. He robbed Boston in the Stempniak deal, but there was another mid-round draft pick there for Schlemko. Never understood why he held on to him and never offered a contract in the summer. But, oh well. |

It's possible nothing was offered for Schlemko and I believe shero offered him a contract but just not with the same term that the Sharks offered I think 4 years was too long for shero to stomach |

Glad you proved me wrong! I know of a few misses, but no GM knocks em all out of the park. |

Cormier was a real head scratcher but Anderson, Rykov and Bastian are already looking like great picks |

It's early. At one point Josefson and Tedenby were thought of to be cornerstones of this franchise. |

I don't know if I would say Bastian was a great pick considering where he was picked. |

Who the hell thought that? No one is guaranteed to be cornerstones if they make the NHL, then can produce or play at a high level. |

the credit could should go to quincey for actually playing much better than he's worth. I mean for someone that gets paid the league minimum or whatever he should play like the league minimum. good to see that he is putting up some decent stats and hopefully he can get a contract like lee did in the off season |

No player willingly plays like a league minimum player. They try their best with the skill set they have. |

Kyle was once a pretty well paid defender and people in Detroit complained he was overpaid. He's not bad and in the older style of play he was a respected defender. The game has just gotten a little fast for him and emphasizes d men with more offensive skills rhenge has. But I like the guy if paired with someone more mobile. |

He's definitely not winning the fastest skater competition any time soon, but he does have a good, hard shot. He's fine as long as he doesn't have to be the 3rd best defender on your blue line. If the Devils didn't already have 4-5 other 3rd pairing defensemen on the roster, I'd be ok with him in that bottom pairing role. |
