I dunno dude, you're the reverend. You said let the insults begin, I was just swinging for the fences and channeling my inner Nietschze.

Tom Tango did a study about talent vs luck and Phil Birnbaum expanded on it a few years later. You can find the article here

Tom Tango and Phil Birnbaum sound like 2 guys that would (frank) you out of a lot of money and leave you face down in a dark alleyway.

IMO, of course

One more thing on Marc-Andre Fleury: Not that matters exactly right now, but I'm told by #NHL source #GoldenKnights will target him.

This is what I've been hearing as well but I have also heard Fleury is open to waiving to three teams & may have approved one already.

Anyone see these tweets? Don't know this Jimmy Murphy guy

Fleury is a good fit in vegas for vegas. I don't think that is the ideal situation for fleury. He's definitely a goalie that can be spectacular and win some games. And he's a big name to sell some seats.

And I agree 100% with blog theme. Don't go big this deadline. We have a very long window so holding on to our future matters. If murray is a top 5 goalie (Which seems likely) until he's 30 and crosby/malkin/letang age reasonably well from elite to functional 1c/1d then we are in good shape until those guys are upper 30's. Just need to add support guys along the way.

I would like to see the Pens get a faceoff specialist. The whole team is terrible at faceoffs. I know Duchene has a good win % but that may be a costly trade to pull off.

go for the splash! plenty of guentzels, rusts, shearys, letangs, etc. out there for later picks or UFA. use the first... use gentzel or sprong, us DP... or try to at least... bring in the studs!

I'm a big dreamer... here would be my win now and minimize what you lose in the expansion draft trades:

Fleury for Hutchinson & Enstrom (1/2 retain).
Maata & Bonino for RNH.
Pouliot for Sharp (1/2 retain)

Sheary-Crosby-Hornquist
Hagelin-Malkin-Kessel
Kunitz-RNH-Sharp
Wilson-Cullen-Rust

Dumo-Letang
Enstrom-Schultz
Hainsey-Daley

I think the Pens should make a run at him or RNH if they want a cheaper option.

I think Maata, Sprong and a 1st would get it done, and I would do that all day long.

From the last blog:

Seems easy to summarize. Gamble vegas won't want a 1 year rental and go 7-3 or we are stuck at 4-4. I'd probably go 4-4 at this point. Only 4 forwards we have with a lot of trade value are crosby, malkin, kessel, horn. Hags/rust the likely choice don't have the trade value of maatta.

My biggest issue with this is that there will be no need for LV to gamble, if I remember correctly they can talk to pending FAs a few days before the draft so they would be to know whether they could get Shultz to sign before they drafted him, thus negating any risk of drafting a 1 year rental.

I would do that all day long as well but only because I think they is highway robbery(especially with Maata currently injured again). I think another team would offer more and I don't think the AVS would or should make that deal.

jaydogg its a gamble on our parts.

Its only 1 expansion pick for them. Even if schultz is just a 1 year rental he's likely to finish top 10 in pts for dmen this year. That might appeal to them for the short-term while leaving us F$cked next year on defense.

By cheaper do you mean cheaper to acquire?...because Im pretty sure Duschene's and RNH's cap hits are very similar.
