Good things to take away from the game: Provorov and Ghost both looked good, skated with confidence and created chances in the offensive zone.

Bad things: The continued lack of 5 on 5 pressure from the "top" two lines and the seeming lack of interest in playing defense that has enveloped Jake's game.

Siding with the selling of pretty much all of the pending UFAs. No need to keep them around for a non-existent playoff push. Get what you can and then give a mix of young guys and ahl vets a cup of coffee in the NHL. Hi

I think all this playoff hope stuff is funny. I love the Flyers all day long, even when they are looking so bad but i'm not kidding myself. What could this team possibly do in the playoffs? Scorers aren't scoring and the goalies and D are leaky. Really, what playoff hope is there at all.....really?

My Game Observations:

- Giroux actually looked engaged and better. Showed some energy.

- Couturier line looked good. Sucks that the first goal was overturned. but that line moved well and was creating chances.

- 3rd line I barely noticed last night.

- Provorov and Gostisbehere looked good. Manning had a rough night at points.

- Flyers created some chances. The Capitals are just better. Their talent was able to capitalize on chances.

They played a solid game last night, but solid isn't enough when you are facing one of the best teams in the league. If they lose to the Pens in regulation Saturday, they will likely be 5+ points out of a playoff spot by Monday morning. Pretty sure Hexy will be doing some selling at that point.

100% of giroux right now isn't close to 50% of what he was unfortunately

I think so.

what sucks is even though they lost Florida lost and still only sit 3 back of a wildcard. I know the odds of making it are low but the illusion of being close sucks. But you never know.

My dream scenario is they move some of the pieces they can and maybe one or two pahntoms who are ready enter the lineup and they go on a little run and make the playoffs.

Avs scouts the Flyerslast night. I think they pass based on last night's performance.

They actually didn't play a terrible game. They had chances. Capitals made the most of turnovers and chances.

Yep. I don't think Colorado would take him in a deal. If that is who they were scouting last night. When he signed his contract I thought that it wasn't bad for his skill. Now I'm thinking Andrew MacDonalds contract looks better.

Fair enough, but our offense just can't get it going.

16 straight games with 3 goals or less. Futility, ineptitude, and incompetence are reaching all time highs.

I want to be clear, we're at the point where moral victories definitely don't matter a hill of beans, but if the Flyers play regularly with that effort, I can live with it. I think they'd win their fair share of games playing at that level. They should've been playing at that level consistently all season. They have the ability. It's puzzling.

Hextall has to realize this team is not going to make it this year or next with his forward group. Bottom six has to be addressed and 1-2 core players must go.
I would also consider moving Ghost ( deal from position of strength ) . He has to explore every option possible . Couturier is not a 2nd line centre IMO. Maybe more balance at that position could help Giroux's game.

Scouts aren't focused on the end results of the game. A lot of Flyers had solid games last night.

Unless they get an offer so good they can't refuse it, Gostisbehere should be pretty close to an untouchable.

I know this is a dumb question on my part but what realistic solution to fixing the problems they have do you have?

We all know you like to complain about the Flyers so it would be interesting to see how you fix them.

Ready to sell G after a struggling for half a season? That's the leash he gets? Talk about fair weather fans. SMH

Do you remember what he did last year to put the team in playoffs? I do.

How many times has he admitted he was hurt during the season? Never.

I'm willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt for another season.

And even if you do trade him, you don't trade the heart and soul of your team to the Avs so he can rot away on a rebuilding team for rest of his career. What would that say about your organization to other players? The Flyers just don't do that. He would go to a playoff team IMO.
