What I concluded from this article: Todd is officially riding the tank train.

The current format helps reward teams for losing so, why not? Nothing to lose at this point.

6) The Devils won the shot attempt battle 36-6(!) and the scoring chance battle 16-1(!!!) with Cody Ceci on the ice at 5v5. That's as bad of a stat line as I've seen all season. Remember that time the Lightning wanted Ceci for Jonathan Drouin and the Sens wouldn't pull the trigger?

I don't know how excited I can get about outplaying a Sens team with a ton of injuries and still losing. A real solid effort is nice but the part of the season when that's a feel good story is long gone... and this Devil's team have plenty of nights they don't really show up.

I don't want to see this team tank, but I'd like to see some more of the kids getting rotated into the lineup both on offense and defense.

Quincey has his shortcomings but he certainly knows how to play defense. He was a good add and hopefully a good trade chip.

Liking Blandisi's game more and more. Good example of the value of the AHL. Realizing he was hurt some of this year, but most people thought he'd be in the NHL all year. Just goes to show there is value to playing bigger minutes, in an expanded role, even in the AHL. He's looked really good and much more disciplined this year.

Didn't love Cammy's game last night. Seems like every time he touched the puck he stopped skating. Doesn't fit Hynes' style at all. Starting to think it's more likely Shero entertains trades for him and probably retains some salary to do it.

Late surges of possession when down are characteristic of good teams. The Devils don't usually do that, but they did it yesterday, despite falling short. I think that's why Zacha still has negative numbers

Not very honorable to tank the rest of the season. We all knew we'd be in this place; perhaps not quite this bad, but not good. I'd like to see them try and put up a fight, not checkout like a dollar store cashier.

And put cammy back on the ice. He's our 3rd best player abs he's eating popcorn in the pressbox?

I don't believe that the Devils necessarily have to "tank" the rest of the season....I think it will happen naturally. If we are calling last night's game the "best" then no need to put on an act, they will do just fine either way! Something tells me that even if they were to come in dead last....they would lose the lottery too! Just seems to be a black cloud over the franchise lately....

It's not necessarily about losing the lottery as much as being in the highest position possible win or lose.

Wonder if Kerfoot would join the big club next season or take Vesey's route and choose where he wants to go. Anyone else worried about him pulling a Vesey and not signing a contract with the Devils?

I'm honestly not that concerned. Partly cause I just don't think Kerfoot is at the same level as Vesey was at that point. Don't get me wrong, I would love to keep Kerfoot, and losing him for nothing would be a bummer. But if ask if Kerfoot is ready for the NHL (like Vesey was), I'd be a bit hesitant; I think the AHL would be best for him (basically I am saying I am not yet convinced he is a sure-fire guy).

Point being, I see it as, if he stays, I am trilled; if he leaves, I don't see it as a huge loss. So I am not really that concerned either way... but maybe I am missing something about his game ::shruggs::

I think there could be a case that its not that important this year, since apparently 3-15 in this draft are all really close and there's lots of disagreement among scouts as to the rankings.

I would rather have Kerfoot. We are gonna have to fill that spot in Albany anyway, so why not with a 22 year old instead of a career AHLer. Kerfoot has some potential.

3rd best player? Hall, Schneider, Henrique, Palmieri, Greene, Severson, Zajac, maybe Cammy?

Yeah, but there are some good prospects to choose from at 7thish. Don't know if Tippett will still be there, but Valimaki, Yamamoto, Pettersson will be good additions, in that order. Tippett is one dimensional, but the best goal scorer in the draft and I'm not high on him because of that. In terms of need, Valimaki would be the guy to draft. Hague is bigger, but just because he is bigger doesn't mean anything.
