In my opinion, if the referee is good enough to call a game with some flair and some panache'- then by all means, bring it on. And Wes- much like Kerry Fraser and Paul Stewart before him- is certainly more than good enough.

Like Stewy says in this clip here- https://goo.gl/VVc0Lm -after all, hockey is supposed to be entertainment. Rock on, Wes!

Only by the guys playing the game - not by the officials. Understand?

Why are you so bothered by it? The refs aren't robots. The more originality in the game the better. It's much better than listening to canned clichés by the players before and after games and in between periods. Understand?

I think the enthusiasm is awesome. How can you watch that and not smile!

No one pays money to see the refs perform a show. Bottom line!

I would much rather see them take their responsibilities more seriously, get in better positions to make the right calls, and be consistent on a game by game basis than show enthusiasm on penalty calls. Understand your place in the game, and don't step into the light that isn't yours.

Reminds me of the NFL referee who announced a penalty against someone for uneccesary roughness on Jim Kelly saying 'he was giving him the business!!!' LOL

Fantastic call. Also, "False start...offense...everybody but the center..."

Who cares if the refs add a little flair as long as they do a good job. I know fun is not allowed in hockey by "Good old Canadian boys" and all but for (frank)'s sake, lighten up.

I loved it!

Whoever took the names off of the ref's sweaters stole some fun from the game.
We loved to complain about Paul Stewart being biased against the Bruins and Kerry Fraser doing whatever it was Kerry Fraser did. It added some passion, Wes McCauley gets it. Even if you hate the calls or think they are showboating you have to admit it adds interest and some fun.
