How to lose out in the first round 101:
Play martin and gauthier as your second or third line. Two guys that constently get out attempted when theyre on the ice. - ClarksonDavid
You realise that Martin gets 65% of his zone starts in defense, and Gauthier over 70%, right?
Now think that piece of information over a bit, and then get back to me whether either you or Babcock is better at understanding hockey...

I have to get this over from the last thread:

Well given that neither of those play on the second or third line, I'm not seeing your point...?

I was making the point that Komarov-Martin-Gauthier line could be played more in (hypothetical) playoffs vs regular season, depending on how a game would develop (ie more minutes for that line due to a lead for Leafs)

Martin gets 38% Dzone starts and Gauthier gets 47% but who's counting.
Regardless...they need to get the (frank)ing puck out...that's why we have the 4th line C...win the draw...get it out. Not lose the draw and watch the shots pile up.
Not complaining about the player...cuz I like Martin and think he's of use while many don't...but he won't be playing 2nd line/3rd line mins I don't think.

Garnie I'm reading 65% and 72% at hockey reference..
I was just looking at TOI; Martin was played 2-3 mins more in NYI than in TOR, so not sure whether Babcock is really that much of a favorite of him, or that it's just bc the other players on his line are not good enough (for Babcock) to give them more toi.

Winnipeg’s Jacob Trouba suspended two games for an illegal check to the head on Ottawa’s Mark Stone. - Fruitcakenipple
Should be able to beat the Peg now that the great Trouba is out of the line up...

I wonder what the cost would be to acquire Cody Franson. Trading Polak and bringing Franson back would really shore up the depth on D.
