Great to see them battle back after being up 2.

Happy to see Brassard finally start being rewarded. He's played very well over the last couple weeks. I've said it before but Mark Stone is criminally underrated. He just brings if every night and should be in serious consideration for the Selke.

Don't bother watching the game tonight as I will be in attendance. Bringing in my rock solid 0-7 record this year at the CTC.

Pissed.

Missed the game last night (had my own game)

Assuming the score wasn't indicative of the play.......how'd the boys look?

^^^

At some points sloppy and hemmed in their own end. At other points good and strong.

5-3 Powerplay is still a joke of epic proportions.

I think I read that they haven't scored a 5-3 goal in 2 seasons......that's crazy

So according to leaf fans the reason Ottawa won is because the sens need the playoff revenue so the NHL told the refs to let them win........also if the Leafs miss it's less overall revenue which helps the league in the next CBA negotiations.

Honestly.......can't make this poop up. Lmao

We have heard for years how Lazar is a great leader and future captain

Based on the current situation, at what point should a true leader recognize that he isn't currently good enough to play every night, and volunteer for a two week conditioning stint to put himself in better position to play

Granted, 5 AHL games probably won't do much, but is this an unfair expectation to put on him? I don't think so

Good read Jared.

They definitely need to curb this habit they've formed of following up the big win with a disappointing effort. It is nice to have Condon available for these back to backs and he should be given this start.

I keep hoping that we will see Curtis Lazar be given an opportunity to play with some of the teams better offensive players, however I think that ship has sailed. He needs a change of scenery unfortunately. I read that GMPD was asking for a 2nd rounder for him, whether or not that is still true, seems like a very steep price for a player who's never had any success at the NHL level.

Ottawa management has almost ruined any chance of Lazar living up to their lofty expectations. If they truly want to see what he can do, they need to stop putting them on a line with the likes of Neil and Kelly and put him with some players who are actually able to play with him and generate some offense. Maybe a line of Lazar, Smith and Pageau? If they can keep Bobby Ryan in the lineup when he absolutely sucked, then they should be able to at least give Lazar a shot with better linemates. We all saw what he did when he played with good linemates at the World Juniors, so the talent is definitely there.

As for trading him or giving him a change of scenery, I think we all need to calm down a little and remember he is only 21 years old. The Senators already have a sad history of getting rid of young players who haven't met their 'expectations', far too early and now they are thriving on a different team.

Noesen was drafted 21st overall. Throw in for trade with ducks, waived last month now on devils. Over 100 AHL games played

Lazar wasn't that far off going 17th overall. They value him like a top 5 pick

Also, in bringing in Chris Kelly and Pyatt, and given that they had full time roles, I don't understand the decision to bring up Lazar because of "injuries." There was no spot for him. Would it really have been a loss to rotate Bailey/McCormick/Paul and Buddy (when they had him). Looks like a classic Sens GM and coach not being on the same page.

Remember when they got Stillman and his only role seemed to be a PP point man? Remember when they got Comrie and they stuck him with Neil? Yeah, let's bring up
Lazar after tearing it up with 4 points in 13 AHL games.

I agree with some points but I think we also have to accept that it could just be a bad pick. He just seems to panic whenever he has the puck on his stick and IMO has zero hands and not a high quality shot. If someone offered a 2nd I think you take that and run for your life

I agree- they have admitted that he won't be a top six player (I think Dorion mentioned it). He has a good north, south game but is easily pushed off the puck and has a hard time shooting. He is also committing unforced errors in his own zone which probably doesn't endear himself to his coaches at all. I think I would be good with a third or adding something to get a better player.

Pretty amusing seeing the 180 on Lazar by fans and the team. The guy has zero natural skill. He just works hard and had good defensive instincts for an 18 year old.

Without natural skill, the odds of you being a top 6 forward are slim. Ryan Smyths and Dustin Browns only come around so often and their prime careers are quite short lived.

You can't teach a Hoffman type shot, you can't teach a Karlsson type shot, and you can't teach a Dzingle speed. You can teach defensive hockey, positioning, etc.

The time to trade him was in his rookie year.

I do fear this team places too much emphasis on 2way, defensive hockey. a bunch of guys that do a bit of everything well, but no one really excels at anything (minus Karlsson). Hearing that jarring 5 on 3 stat last night, just shows that more. We need another forward or two who have top tier offensive ability. Easier said then done of course.

Of course it was in , (frank)ing nonsense, but if they don't have a camera on it there's really nothing the officials can do. Shame. I don't mind losing the game, but really we may have lost two of our best guys to these wienerheads? That's the real kicker.

This has to be Bobby Ryan's fifth hand injury in the last year or so

I don't want to sound dumb, but maybe he needs to wear a thicker glove?

He kept coming back early on the others, while many players are out for a given time. Is coming back too early complicating things?
