Peter Tessier: Jets fall in OT & Malkin's head shot While most in Winnipeg are feeling pretty good about pushing the Penguins to OT, even more are calling for Malkin's head after he hit Wheeler's.

the nhl won't suspend Malkin because of his star power. yes I realize that Ovie has been suspended but lets be honest, its not going to happen....

First off - best I've seen the Jets play in a long time - if it wasn't for M-A Fleury, we woulda had the "W" .... whatever it was that made our boys wake up and play that way - bottle it
.
Secondly - WHATEVER ! ... that was a head shot, feet left the ice - f_ck him ... Malkin should be subject to disciplinary action ... if that was a Jet laying the hit you better believe he'd be up sh_tt's creek ... come on
.
Between High School Hockey playoffs, MMJHL, minor hockey schedule, Jets afternoon games - this is a long weekend filled with hockey ... stock the fridge, boys, and light up the BBQ

To be objective, yes, he left his feet before contact... should be disciplined.

I don't know - it looked to me like Malkin's skates left the ice before the impact. I've definitely seen worse and more obvious head-shots than this one... and as we know, the league doles out supplemental discipline based on the result... thankfully Wheeler seemed to be ok after initially being stunned. Geno probably should have penalized for a head-shot in addition to the interference, but I don't think this is suspension worthy (a fine at most).

I watched the game and I agree that the hit wasn't good. I don't think he was targeting the head, but it is what it is. I think a fine or maybe a game. This hit came after 2 questionable hits by the Jets.

1st was Buff the Stuff's hit on Schultz from behind. He didn't go in with a lot of speed but shoved Schultz right in the numbers face first into the glass. Should of atleast been a penalty if not more.

2nd was Lowry's late high hit on Maata.

Both hits caused injury and I am curious to see what you guys think of them since they were not mentioned? Also, the reason Malkin laid that hit was due to the cheap stuff from earlier in the game. That does not make it right, and shouldn't mean he shouldn't receive discipline... but if you are going to cross the line, be ready to get it back.

Impact of the hit looked shoulder first, and then incidental head contact. I really don't think he was aiming for the head.

Cheap hit, but to be fair, the jets were running around all night after the pens went up 2-0. If the refs call Big buffs boarding penalty that injured schultz or the dumb a$$ hit that sent Maatta out for the next 6 weeks at least.. wheeler was chirping with Crosby after he scored his 1k point.. kind of a classless night by the jets in my opinion. If maf didn't play as great as he did, you guys get the w though. But if you're gonna run around, don't be surprised when you get knocked on your a$$

When Lowry lays the same hit on the captain of the flightless birds in three weeks I hope all the trolls on here agree that won't require supplemental discipline either.

Lol like I said, you get what's coming to you when you guys act like jackasses the entire game. It was actually sad to watch your team resort to such stupidity to try and win. Go drink your bagged milk

Don't think Malkin was targeting Wheelers head but unnecessary hit that I want out of the game so I would do a game suspension. On the Buff hit. It should have been penalized at the least and don't forget about the chicken wing Trouba laid to the chin of Carter Rowney shortly after the Buff hit on Schultz. Also after malkins hit on wheeler there was 6 Jets players on the ice excluding the goalie of course.

Frank Malkin. Cheap shot frankin Russian. Hope someone takes his head off next game.
Pretty bad officiating in this game on the whole. Especially the fantom call on Buff's holding that lead to Kessel's goal.

Very similar hit to Dan Girardi a season or two ago. Malkin know what he is doing; no matter how goofy he looks.

He won't get anything in terms of a suspension.

why are so many Pens fans complaining about hits? you know its part of the game right? or are teams not aloud to hit you guys? Bottom line, everyone agrees Malkin's hit was the cheapest of the night, I am nopt complaining about it and dont care about suspensions or fines, I hope we break his ankle Bobby Clarke style next time we meet, old time hockey!!! Dont like it, watch more Curling
