I've been saying this for a while, but people who continue to be down on the Phaneuf trade really need to reconsider. He may only be a 2nd pairing guy at this point, but he's added a ton of stability to the top-4 defence. That's played a pretty significant role in the fact that Anderson/Condon currently have more shutouts than Price, Crawford, Lundqvist, and Rinne combined. He's also the first defenceman since the Kuba/Gonchar days to add meaningful secondary offense from the blue line.

Also, does anyone really still believe that Hammond should be playing ahead of Condon? If I'm Dorion, I've already got a contract extension printed up and ready that's post-dated for 1 day after the expansion draft.

pretty sure the only people who criticize the phaneuf deal are leaf trolls........

as for Hammond, I've always felt he had no business in the NHL and was against the extension he signed from day 1. agree 100% that we should move forward with andy and condon..........and when andy is done in a year or two hopefully one of the young guys is ready

Tom Pyatt is one of the best free-agent signings the Sens have had in years.

I agree....I'll also say that the Condon trade is one of the most underrated moves all year.... can you imagine this team if Andy left and Hammond was struggling? O'Connor would be up and it'd be a circus, but bring in a guy that has done nothing but been consistently under the radar winning games.
