Bob Duff: Preparing for life without Nyquist Detroit forward Gus Nyquist should expect to be suspended for his high stick on Minnesota's Jared Spurgeon.

No idea what he was thinking but in the video you can see his stick get caught on the glass and catapult the stick right into Spurgeon's face. I think the intent was to slash him, just not in the face.

We've been awful with him in the lineup all season, I'm sure we'll remain the same with him out of the lineup.

Im confident, Nyquist did not mean to do what had happened, but you still cannot be wreckless so I think he is worthy of a suspension. The fact of what he got assessed, Spurgeon came back to play and being a first time offender, I suspect it will result in a 3-5 game suspension.

Regardless,
he wont impact this team this year -- My only Red Wing hope at this point, is for KH to realize it is time to be a seller and start rebuilding via the draft and unloading what you can of this past core.

3-5 is reasonable. Spurgeon could have lost an eye.. but I would not be surprised if the pathetic Player Safety board gives him 5-7

Knowing they offered him an in-person review, it's likely going to be north of 5 games. They're so wildly inconsistent that it's impossible to guess, but my money is on the 7 - 10 game range. Regardless of history or intent, it just looked vicious.

In the end, I think the DoPS will spin the wheel of suspension and let it decide how many games he gets.

Can Sheahan serve the suspension, simultaneously ? He needs a break, too.

No. This would destroy our defense. He is too good defensively

Are you drunk?
Of course he did. It was completely intentional...put down the kool aid.
It should be a 15 gamer...but I'll be happy with 8.
First timer or not....it was a stupid and classless move. Make an example of him.

Knowing the League, he'll get more than Keith has received for his last few. While I agree it should be significant, it can't be more than what's been given in the past. Look, it doesn't matter to Wings fans since he hasn't been lighting it up this season but don't make an example out of a guy with 10 PM's for the season. 8 games....

What I meant, by intentional was he meant to do something to Spurgeon, but I dont think said, im going to turn around and high stick this guy under the visor and in the eye... but he did mean to retaliate...

also, a NYR fan on here pointed out that his stick got stuck on the boards, on the video it does actually it got pegged on the glass while trying to move his stick...

but again. wreckless play, 6 games is what the call should be.

If it was an accident how can he be sure it won't happen again?
